hardware store in California’s Bay Area had an eye-watering $700,000 in merchandise stolen in a single year — as organized retail theft runs rampant in the Democrat-run state.
Dale Hardware in Fremont documented record losses in 2022 due to the brazen larceny, owner Kyle Smith told The Mercury News.
He said his business loses about $1,800 a day — and that his grandfather, who first began the business in 1955, would “roll in his grave” if he knew the financial hardship the store was facing as a result of the scourge.
“You’ll go, ‘Sir, sir, sir!’ and they don’t even turn around,” Smith told the outlet.
“Or they’ll give you a look, like, ‘Do you want to go there?’”
Retail experts told the outlet a variety of things have led to the current shoplifting crisis, including an increase in “organized retail theft,” or social media posts that have seemingly prompted people to flock to stores and steal.

Other shoplifters brazenly filled a shopping cart with $11,000 in specialty wire, and kept an accomplice at the door to warn employees against pursuing the thieves because they had guns, Smith said.

Staff at the hardware store say they only call the police when the loss is greater than $10,000 because authorities are unlikely to hold the perpetrators accountable over lower-level amounts.
Other Bay Area businesses have also reported a disturbing uptick in retail theft, but many incidents don’t get reported so the problem only persists.

The store owner recalled one woman who showed him a list of items she had been tasked with stealing by an Oakland man who sent a dozen thieves out to shoplift each day in the Bay Area.
“She had already been to Target,” he said. “She’d been to Home Depot. She’d been to Lowe’s.”

Just read a comment somewhere else, to bring the mafia back. Makes sense for a store like this to pay $500-$800 per day protection. The whole community would benefit.
“The shoplifting is just the “presenting” symptom.”
Great post. That is why “broken windows” law enforcement is so effective.
The “bad actors” do lots of small stupid bad things as well as bigger ones—once you have them in custody you can make sure they go to court for all of their outstanding warrants.
“kept an accomplice at the door to warn employees against pursuing the thieves because they had guns”
Which constitutes a life or death threat, which justifies someone drawing on them and shooting first.
Boondock Saints.
Just sayin’….
Bet they weren’t stealing work boots.
Oh yeah..The Chinese simply looooove blacks.....
I might suggest voting with your feet. Many folks have to start over in life. If it’s a major chain, request a transfer. Your lives and your children’s lives are more important than $. Escape from Cali.
Never heard of it but will plan to watch it. Thanks.

A lot of them don't get out on bond, if they have enough outstanding warrants, many for "failure to appear." They're not the most responsible bunch.
Getting them off the street is highly effective in preventing crime.
I worked for a while as security. My favority memory was catching three thirteen year old girls who had each stolen home pregnancy tests.
I had all three of them in the office, along with a female employee as a witness. The girls were all crying their eyes out and wanting to know what I was going to do.
I have to admit it was with some pleasure I followed the store policy concerning minors and minor thefts. I called their parents to come to the office and pick up their child who had been caught shop lifting.
As their parents arrived, I showed them what their sweet little girls had stolen
Nice! Maybe it was a “come to Jesus” moment in their lives.
What starts in California almost always spreads east. Here we go. The laws are going to HAVE to change to allow to shoot to kill to stop this.
I just wished I lived nearby so that I could shop there and help financially support the business and the thievery.
I work for a living so, yes, raise my prices so I can support someone that doesn't (work).
Simple solution, hire Denzel Washington.
Bought some wire at a Home Depot in south Orange county, CA recently and noticed all the wire roll shelves are now caged! The employee said it was due to organized crime rings.
The laws won’t change here in CA. The left desperately wants to make sure black folks continue to vote democrat, so they are doing everything they can to get those votes.
Emptying jails, no bail for all those blacks who get arrested for crimes (other races get that benefit as well, thanks to the “blacks can do no wrong” mindset), no jail for blacks if at all possible (too many blacks in jail is what started all this BS), blacks can do whatever they want and get away with just about anything, like the juvenile who almost ran over that lady and her infant in a stroller, kid just got let go I think.
Reparations? Blacks don’t have to pay Child Support? You know, all the nonsense crap they’ve been floating lately. It all has one central theme.
Texas isn’t playing that BS, and neither are most “conservative” states. This will simply continue the self sorting from criminal states to law and order states, IMO.
Large mantraps on the exits, big enough for the shopping cart.
Put three 4K cameras in it with microphones.
If it ain’t on the receipt (if they even pretend to have one) nothing goes out the door but the empty handed thief.
If they don’t like it they can call the police.
.
Is “Sir” an euphemism for _____?
I’d like to see those thieves try their little stunts in the Middle East and see what the locals do to them.
