The annual cost of New York’s public health insurance for the needy is set to shatter $100 billion for the first time — and the unrelenting migrant crisis could soon trigger even more of a spike, documents show.
The state’s Medicaid program currently enrolls 7.8 million residents, with the staggering price tag for 2023-24 set at $108 billion, according to New York budget estimates.
That’s nearly $10 billion more than last fiscal year’s $99 million budget.
And beginning in January, the program will start providing medical coverage to an estimated 25,000 undocumented immigrants age 65 and over who are ineligible for Medicare, the federal health insurance program for senior citizens — at an estimated cost of $171.million.

Yes, that will happen.
So its more of the same - more spending, more debt, more printed money, higher inflation, higher taxes - until that can not be sustained.
And then it reaches its logical conclusion - collapse and de facto bankruptcy.
Bailouts, yes.
Bankruptcy never.
Bankruptcy would allow forthe renegotiation of union contracts.
Which is why it will never be allowed to happen.
That’s why some states don’t allow municipal bankruptcies.
You insist that just because "The Feds won't allow it" it can't happen. How easy central planning is!
Have no doubt that Argentina, Bolivia and Thailand insisted it "wasn't allowed" either.
“Dom Perignon?”
Take a look at MacDonald’s. They still have the cheap product, make it cost more, and the service and product gets cheaper all the time. So it doesn’t have to be quality stuff...just stuff. Next on the list is Thunderbird.

Well, sure, Deep State can call it bankruptcy while seeing to it union contracts go untouched.
We’re no longer a republic.
Deep State can do whatever it thinks it can get away with.
But the commie idiot mayor and the completely corrupt union heads are corroborating to force NYC municipal retirees to switch from the traditional Medicare and City-paid Medigap insurance to the privatized, more expensive and vastly inferior Aetna Medicare Advantage plan. This violates an article in the City code which guarantees municipal employees their Medigap health insurance and for which the policemen, firemen, EMTs, teachers, sanitation workers, etc. have given decades of service to the city. Compare and contrast this to the illegals, who have given NOTHING to the city but more mouths to feed, house, educate, medicate, and represent in court, all for FREE on the taxpayers’ dime. The piece of excrement racist corrupt commie mayor claims the city doesn’t have the money for what is guaranteed for the retirees, but he ALWAYS seems to find money for those who deserve nothing except a quick exit from our country.
Note to geezer home owners in NYS: If you’re smart, you’ll make contingency plans for when your enhanced STAR exemption goes bye-bye...
Libs in NY are being mugged...by reality. It remains to be seen whether it will be effective.
“Bankruptcy would allow forthe renegotiation of union contracts.”
Which is one of the factors creating the environment for bankruptcy, with the massive pension related unfunded mandates likely to explode in future years.
Always money for illegal invaders. Keep those busses rolling.
“...25,000 undocumented immigrants age 65 and over...”
What are these invaders living on? Illegals who cannot speak English, and have no job skills and are feeble and physically unfit for any type of productivity.
The world is not just sending their military age undesirables but also sending their nursing home parasites.
How can the USA empire continue? The collapse IS coming soon.
No! Not Thunderbird!!
It hasn't touted itself as The Vampire Empire State for nothing!
Y’all might want to check your own State for Medicaid Recovery programs IT’s not free.
“No! Not Thunderbird!!”
Don’t you hate it when they start at the top? They could have, at least, started with Bud Light. They have a queer outlook.
