An American nurse and her daughter have been abducted in Haiti, in the latest kidnapping episode to draw international notice, as a resurgence of violence grips the capital, Port-au-Prince.
In a brief statement on Saturday, El Roi Haiti, a faith-focused humanitarian organization, identified the woman as Alix Dorsainvil, the group’s community nurse and the wife of the group’s director. She and her child were taken from El Roi’s campus near the capital on Thursday, according to the statement.
No further details have been made public.
“We are aware of reports of the kidnapping of two U.S. citizens in Haiti,” a U.S. State Department official told The Times by email, adding that U.S. officials were working with their Haitian counterparts and declining to comment further on the matter...

The daughter of a woman I used to work with has spent a lot of time in Haiti. I don’t know if she’s been back—the last time she and her group had to rent a helicopter to get out of the country. She’s college aged and tried her best to make things better in the small town where she lived. Started a library and some sort of school for the locals.
I hope she’s not back there. I told her mom she needed a new hobby, since Haiti isn’t working out too well for her.
Haiti could be and should be an island vacation paradise and cruise ship destination. I wonder what the problem is?
Shining the light of Christ onto a horrible situation.
there we go.
Please read my comment.
This thread was posted to ask for prayers. I know all about the sociology of Haiti, I’ve posted about it frequently.
If you can’t pray for this poor nurse, start your own thread about Haiti and deluded American Christians.
Because Haiti has never been a dirtbag country run by criminals and corrupt politicians until now
My son is in Guatemala ATM on a mission trip. Third round. Seems so much nicer than Haiti even though they also have crushing poverty.
They started a Christian school. It’s so nice and well accredited...the politicians want their kids to go there and have been trying to bribe the leaders. They said NO. Leaders said once the politicians got a shoe in...they would tell them how to run the school.
Prayer needed ping.....
Wise school leaders.
I apologize
No compassion whatsoever.
.
Lord Wrap you arms around these two !
Dorsainvil is a Haitian surname. I'm guessing she was an immigrant or child of immigrants who went back to help.
Yep.
One goes where God calls them.
If that’s where God called her, then it is what it is. Sometimes your own personal safety is not the main concern.
Prayers Up for All these Missionaries!
.
How Beautiful are the Feet of those who
Come in the Name of the Lord !
Amen !

I’m reminded of Jim Elliot and the Auca.
First of all, it's not people but Jesus who saves anyone and, secondly, it's not stupid to obey His Great Commission to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15,16) We trust that where God leads, He also protects and is able to make all things work together for good even in the face of man's inhumanity to man. Think bigger scale.
These women need prayer.
If you are not going to pray for them, why don’t you keep your nasty opinion to yourself and find a different thread to troll?
Then why aren’t you there doing something about it?
“Think bigger scale.”
What makes you think I believe what you believe?
