As long as you draft the little ladies as well…that would be cool.
No school exemptions. No deferrals. Your number comes up…and you go.
That is the only way a draft would work— but there is no reason for it.
I turned 18 in May 1968. I had eight years of deferments II-S and then II-H for medical school.
In exchange for the II-H, I was draft-eligible until age 42.
Looking back on it, the student deferment for college was corrupt and should never have been allowed.
That’s fine with me. I went through basic training for correctional officers at age 48...fire arms, unarmed self-defense, riot batons, etc. Wish I’d could have done it 30 years earlier. It developed something inside me that I didn’t know needed developing.
Rather than a draft how about Universal Military Induction? No exemptions either everyone goes or a volunteer force.
