In Africa, Quinine is very popular to prevent Malaria. My brother-in-law practiced medicine in Uganda for many decades. I heard that from him. May be why mortality was low in Africa than United States from covid.
Indians have lots of natural immunity from density of population(13 times higher than United States) and barrage of various pathogens always present. I was born there and lived there until age 20. I remember many illnesses, including smallpox, chicken pox, influenza and intestinal issues. In my 63 years in United States I can’t ever remember any fever causing illness. Had may be 3 colds in 63 years. I did 6 Caribbean cruises during the pandemic and never got sick from anything. However I did catch covid after spending many hours in cancer clinic to escort my wife. I tested positive on the home test kit. Had medium symptoms such as dry cough and excessive tired feeling. But my body killed off the virus in a day and half.
