Singapore City: Human Right Advocates have shared that Singapore will be executing a woman for the first time in 19 years. The Singaporean national was found guilty of drug trafficking and will be facing capital punishment for her crime tomorrow - July 28, 2023.
Saridewi Djamani, 45, was found guilty of trafficking around 30g (1.06oz) of heroin in 2018. Djamani is the second drug convict to be executed in the past three days.
Before her, Mohd Aziz bin Hussain, 56, was executed at Singapore's Changi Prison and has been buried by the authrauthorities. He was sentenced to death in 2018 for trafficking around 50g (1.75 ounces) of heroin.
As per Kirsten Han from the Transformative Justice Collective, which advocates for abolishing the death penalty in Singapore, the last woman to be executed in Singapore was a 36-year-old hairdresser for drug trafficking in 2004.
Singapore has some of the world's toughest anti-drug laws in place. As per law, death penalty can be given for trafficking more than 15g of heroin and more than 500g of cannabis.
In April 2022, Tangaraju Suppiah, was executed for trafficking 1kg (35oz) of cannabis. As per authorities, Suppiah would just coordinate sales of cannabis via mobile phones.
If Djamani is executed tomorrow, Singapore will have executed a total of 15 people for drug related crimes since March 2022. This would bring Singapore to an average of one execution per month.
Several Human Rights Groups, United Nations and British business mogul Richard Branson have urged Singapore to halt death penalty, especially for drug related offences. As per these groups, increasing evidence shows that sdealth penalty is ineffective as a detterent to reduce drug crimes.

The fact that 1) they don’t have fentanyl zombies living in filth on their streets, 2) they don’t have thousands dying of overdoses every year, and 3) they haven’t used the death-penalty in 19 years - all show how HUMANE the policy actually is.

Since “men are no different from women” why is this an issue? On one hand (here) we are supposed to feel different about a woman than about a man in the same situation.
But we are also supposed to think that there is no difference between men and women.
By forcing us to accept two contradictory statements at the same time, they are destroying our ability to think and can get us to believe anything at all.
A couple of tried, convicted and executed drug dealers in Singapore.. Vs.. the THOUSANDS of dead drug users in the USA every year.
I think Singapore has a better handle on the math here.

LOL. Visit Singapore, as I did earlier this month. The place is the best run on earth — incredibly clean and orderly. Safest place I’ve ever visited. Amazing mass transit system that works flawlessly and where people behave. There truly is a “social contract” by which the populace abides, and, yet, the Western Media and its elitist friends look down on this country, as evidenced by this piece of journalistic tripe.
Nip it in the bud. They don’t have a drug problem in Singapore. Fear is a great motivator.
Not just Singapore. Most of Southeast Asia have very strict drug trafficking laws.

He also said the gov’t was also extremely tax hungry and took about 90%
