I know Bueno. She has sued everyone of her neighbors. They live in fear of upsetting her or getting in her sights. How would you like the FedEx driver viewing your place when making a delivery for potential crime? She does this everywhere she goes.
It is tragic what happened to the horses but there’s a whole lot more going on here than this article let’s on.
How is a dog any match for a horse?!!!
I can see maybe a young foal, but a grown horse?
Could it be extreme neglect where the dog wants to eat something desperately?
Why didn’t someone kill the dog?
No gun?
First tool I'd reach for after I "got the call" is a gun, or two.
I agree with your assessment. Something stinks here.
We used to board horses on our property, and once in a while neighborhood dogs would terrorize the horses. One of our animal control officers told me that I could shoot any dogs that were endangering the horses, and I told the neighbors what would happen if they didn’t control their dogs, but I couldn’t be there all of the time, so we got a miniature donkey and kept it with the horses. Once a couple of dogs got in and scared the horses and the donkey killed both of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs, but they need to be controlled.
Who does the dog belong to?
As you say there is a whole lot more to this story
It sounds like an insurance payout scheme. Get a horse that was neglected and put it out for a mangy mutt to kill and collect the insurance.
I really hate that there are people with so little compassion for animals.
Everyone was wringing their hands for months - but nobody "manned up" and gave the German shepherd a "delicious treat".
The third time I saw that little game play out, it would be time to go get a steak.
The people in the article are subjects of their government - not citizens.
Sounds like a lovely neighbor
If that is true, then the property owner should have put down the dog the first time it attacked the horse. That's what I would have done. It is indeed tricky......
Back in the early 80's, we had an employee from my plant transfer to our plant in Shelbyville, KY where he purchased a home out in the country.
He had two huskies which attacked and killed a neighbor's cow and along with paying for the cost of the cow, he put down his dogs..as he should have.
Law of the present day west: kill all dogs that come on your property and harass your animals before they kill your animals.
Doesn’t seem like common behavior for a GSD. Do you happen to know what precipitated the attack? I read no further than the excerpt.
Nobody had a 22?
My favorite part of Longmire is when the shaman fakir nasty Crow woman caught it — on her own home ground! — from the Irish Mafia for no other reason than to pimp ratings.
Could you calm down a moment and explain what you just typed? How can anyone make a delivery or for potential crime? What does this have to do with a FedEx driver? How would what I like have anything to do with a crime?
The link goes to a site that is not available for non subscribers. Who is Whipple? Who is the Sergeant? Who is Bueno? Who owns the dog? Who owned the horse?
The flurry of follow up questions are evidence that the story was written poorly. This would be a great sample to show to a writing class.
From the article and what you have offered, I find the woman and unnamed neighbors far more sympathetic than the owner or control officer if, indeed, they were witnessed looking the other way.
I am all for property rights, but not animal cruelty.
I’m confuse what the fuss is about? A dog attacked and killed a horse, not pretty but nature isn’t pretty.
How is animal control or whatever at fault?
Animals kill and eat each other all the time… it ain’t pretty…
I really don’t see what the “controversy” is here
