I still have a cutting board I made from 1992.
In High School l actually learned how to operate a Lathe and an Arc welder. I took auto shop and we had two actual lifts. We would do basic tune ups even some minor repairs for faulty. I was lucky to go to HS before the world went insane but even then (late 60’s) there were signs.
I still have a folding stool that I built in the 8th grade, probably ‘82, as sturdy and functional as it always was. I still use it!
A guy I went to school with became a plumber——Then became a millionaire. He worked very hard & built up a strong business.
My son made a gorgeous box with a maze inside. You shook the box certain ways to get the marble to the end. Cool..
No panic. No lockdown. The teacher just asked to borrow it to show off to his other classes. A week or so later, he returned it and I walked home with it. Even the class bully didn't mess with me that day.
I still use a pair of pliers I purchased in 1963.
I have multiple items from high school wood shop classes including a gun cabinet.
My wood shop and mechanical drawing classes eventually led me to the career I have had for 38 years:
Lumber Broker
My sister has the cutting board I made in 1959 for my Mom.
I made a spice rack. It never hung flush against the wall...
Then again, I had to take a sowing class and made a vest from a pattern. One side was longer than the other, so maybe I had a bias to the right going on...

I’m not afraid to tear apart a lawn mower thanks to Ag. class.
Got ya beat. Still have mine from 1981.
