In the latest sign of rising homophobia in different African countries, a Kenyan opposition MP is leading a campaign for parliament to further criminalise the country's small LGBTQ community.
George Peter Kaluma's move comes after neighbouring Uganda adopted a tough new anti-gay law, rejecting threats by US President Joe Biden to impose sanctions and travel restrictions on "anyone involved in serious human rights abuses".
When I met Mr Kaluma - a member of veteran Kenyan opposition politician Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement - he was sitting behind his desk at his office in the capital Nairobi, proof-reading and making corrections to a bill that he intends to table in parliament soon.
"We want to prohibit everything to do with homosexuality," Mr Kaluma tells me, adding that his bill will be much broader than the legislation passed by Uganda's parliament and approved by President Yoweri Museveni in May.
The Ugandan law is regarded as one of the harshest anti-LGBTQ laws in the world.
It proposes life imprisonment for anyone convicted of homosexuality, and the death penalty for so-called aggravated cases, which include having gay sex with someone below the age of 18 or where someone becomes infected with a life-long illness such as HIV.

Why is colonialism sometimes bad and sometimes good?
I hope they pass it.
‘Homophobia’ is starting to look more and more like common sense.
I hope a bunch of "activists" go over there to tell them how they should run their country.
Rather than being “anti gay” per se - they rightly see it as a neo-marxist, woke, Western-power “wedge” political issue.
“Gay rights” and “human rights” has been, and will be used to create/organize foreign-controlled political groups - then these groups will be pushed into street action when it suits their western handlers.
I hope a bunch of “activists” go over there to tell them how they should run their country.

I’d pay to see that.
Send Barry—HE HAS TIES TO KENYA
Chinese have been spending time and money trying to influence and take over parts of Africa. As: loans that have to be repaid and can’t so influence of Chinese accepted instead.
Question: Does anyone know if Russia is still pushing for power in Africa? Russia just passed another strong anti-gay, anti-trans set of laws. They might curb gays in Africa.
What is China’s policy on that?
What queers need is their own country - maybe some big desert area in Africa, or the Gobi. Some area where hardly nobody lives. They can call it Phallacia maybe, like the book in the Bible. Then, all the queers can pour all their money in it, and go live there and be happy ever after, sodomizing the crap out of each other. Let them pay the medical bills for all their HIV and STDs, and drug abuse.
Plus, if they are all in one place, then fire and brimstone would have an easy target!

We’ve now got a pretty good TASTE of what ‘tolerance’ leads to, so I agree.
