Former President Donald Trump has amassed a considerable lead over his Republican rivals, surging ahead of nearest rival Ron DeSantis by 40-points, a recent survey has revealed.
In the latest Harvard/Harris survey, Trump claimed the support of 52% of the Republican electorate, a 7-point decline from the last poll, though Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis still trailed with 12%.
The most significant movement came from tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy, who surged 8 points to secure 10% support overall, closing in on the second-place slot. Ramaswamy also appears to be gaining traction as a second choice for Trump supporters.
Nineteen percent said they would back him should Trump not run, a 12-point jump from the survey's prior iteration. Conversely, Ron DeSantis witnessed a 12-point decline in second-choice status, with 29% saying they would pick him if Trump did not run.
The electorate generally expects that Trump will win the primary, however, with 54% of registered voters overall suspecting he will triumph in the race. Among Republicans, that figure stood at 74%.
In the general election, Trump would defeat Biden by a 45%-40% margin, while DeSantis would edge out the incumbent 41%-40%.
Conducted from July 19-20, the survey questioned 2,068 registered voters.

I liked DeSantis I wonder what went wrong. I thought he’d do pretty well.
Your ppoll: Kennedy, Musk and DeSantis among few with positive favorability ratings. Trump underwater.
Your poll: DeSantis narrows Trump lead.
Ramaswamy also appears to be gaining traction as a second choice for Trump supporters.
Yes indeed.
“I liked DeSantis I wonder what went wrong. I thought he’d do pretty well.”
Trump intimidation machine
Waste of time now. Do you think the rats are worried? They’ll plan. Could be worry-some though if Biden or more importantly Kamala, doesn’t play along.
Think timing. The perfect storm.
LMAO
Someone ‘splain to me how DJT gets to 270. Or RDS for that matter.
Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan are RIGGED. They were rigged in 2020 and 2016...but in 2016 Trump’s victory was unexpected. In 2020 his victory was EXPECTED and so the Demon Rat party and their allies manufactured more votes.
So Trump gained 13,000,0000 more votes than four years before but the Joe the Depends Wearer somehow soared to 81M??
BS.
And nothing has happened to reverse that chicanery.
The only poll from July to show Trump ahead. A couple of ties and Biden +2-5 in the remaining three. Trump’s in even worse shape in the swing states.
Looks like a battle for 2nd place between DeSWAMPIS and RamaSWAMPY - both GOP Establishment Candidates
Trump is the only one with >25% strongly approve. Trump has a big core group of strong supporters. No-one else does.
Trump has the same ~37% strongly disapprove as biden, Hillary and Kamala.

I would be interested in this Vivek guy’s position on policy issues.
Those, of course, are the complete upheaval of the Deep State and Building the Wall. I certainly hope he doesn’t occupy any time with talk about spending or taxes. Those are not issues. How can discussion of a substance created via QE by the Fed have any significance?
No, I’d like to hear how he will help Drain the Swamp, demolish K Street’s lobbying firm offices, and end wars in which the US has no interest.
The Never Trumpers made friends with DeSantis, encouraging him to run against Trump, turning the conservatives against DeSantis, then they abandoned him, because he was much too Conservative for them. Their hope is that the Soros educated, Ramaswamy will be in second place if Democrats manage to convict Trump.
He has done well…in FLA.
The GOP controls all 3 Branches of GOVT in FLA.
Makes it easy to do well.
National Politics is a different beast.
He should return to being a Full Time Governor of FLA.
Maybe it is or is no longer possible for any GOP candidate to win under the ballot collection regime known as fraud pre-2020 and is now just known as voting. What I do know is that in order to win a candidate would basically have to overwhelm all of the structural advantages the Democrat machine has built up from early voting and ballot collection in their urban precincts. I don’t think Trump has any shot under this regime. He’s already been beaten by it once and they have been fine tuning it ever since. I thought DeSantis would fare better in a general since he would have more crossover appeal, but I don’t think my theory will get to be tested.
Trump Leads Biden by 5? LOL Dems ate so funny.
Who would that be.. Giuliani.?
DeSantis is doing fine. He’s playing the long game and delivering on a conservative agenda for us. That might not be enough to beat Trump’s base of populists and reality show viewers in 2024 but that’s ok. Time is on DeSantis’ side and 2024 is Trump’s last political rodeo.
Vivek is taking poll points away from the Meatball.
I see no evidence this trend will stop.
