The newly-elected mayor of Jacksonville has allocated $500,000 in the Florida city’s budget to remove a monument dedicated to women who lost loved ones serving in the Confederate army.
Donna Deegan — a progressive Democrat who toppled her Republican opponent in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ backyard — had pledged to topple the monument and lined up the dollars to do so.
“We are looking at all potential options and Mayor Deegan remains committed to removing the Springfield Park monument,” her spokesperson, Philip Perry, tweeted.
Erected in 1915, the monument is one of the last Confederate memorials remaining in Jacksonville, the nation’s largest city in terms of contiguous land mass.

Nothing is really the matter with the people of Jacksonville, the Republicans did this to themselves, two Republicans in the primary ran perhaps the most negative campaign against each other it was pathetic, when the race was ultimately decided the Republicans on the losing side stayed home in a race that already had very low turnout
Up close she’s a total skank, a Floridan who has spent far to much time in the sun with no protection and her face is like 20 miles of gravel road
I live here too, she’s got two huge political issues to deal that could destroy her.
The Sheriff wants a big increase in funding for a bunch of new officers and Jaguars want a billion dollars for basically a new stadium
The police union has a lot of power and the Sheriff is a black conservative Republican who probably has a negative opinion of her
Shad Kahn is exceptionally smart and she’s no match for him in terms of business and negotiations
She can’t politically afford to screw up either issue
“Looks older than 61”
And that’s with makeup applied with a paint roller......imagine rolling over next to that every morning......no wonder her weatherman husband is a drunk.......got himself DUI a couple of years ago.....I see why.
Another city falls to the lunatic left led by a worthless ()itch.
She’ll see that the stadium boondoggle passes......and then we’ll ALL be paying for it.....for the rest of our natural lives.
One thing we should keep in mind is that this is NOT a
memorial to confederate soldiers but to WIDOWS who lost
their husbands.
The left is just insane with hate.
They want us dead.
$500K could fix a lot of pot holes which in turn would help the taxpayers’ car repair budgets.
They want the idea of America as we know it forgotten.
They want America remembered as a failed system based
on lies.
There’s a big sign in the park that says “Confederate Park,” how long did these people that was going to last???
‘Easy on the eyes’...for a Ferengi, perhaps...
Evidently she is who the people want. Else they would not have elected her. I hope she really rubs their noses in it. They were dumb enough to elect her. Let them enjoy her.
Yes, it would shed a different light, if that were the case.
However, I think it is better to destroy such trash, and those who use it in the public marketplace of ideas. Then figuratively tar and feather all those that defend such deceptive garbage.
It's probably more like $500K was "set aside" right into someone's pockets.
In a sane world, there would be an investigation followed by a re-call election.
ARGHGggggggggggggggggg....
At any rate, she is the people’s choice. The people elected her. Let them enjoy her. Perhaps they will have better sense next time. I hope she puts it to them good. Stupidity should hurt. Next time somebody blows smoke up their asses...........
Or feed the hungry.
The Redskins just sold for SIX billion dollars. It’s totally insane these NFL teams can shake down cities for stadiums at this point. Shad has at least two BILLION in equity on the Jags at this point after only 10 years owning the team. He can afford to pay the bill on new digs like the rest of us.
Can we quit with the “progressive’ BS already? “Liberal” doesn’t work anymore either.
