So many of these “solutions” from the left seen designed to punish+humiliate their political opponents. Flood the US with 3rd worlders without vetting for crime and diseases but make sure our soldiers get the jab. Take away police from normal people but make sure the politicians are safe.

“We had two four hour blackouts last week so the city could stay cool while we baked in the country.”

I just had some more solar panels delivered this week to improve my self sufficiency should this kr@p start coming my way.

As always, YMMV.

“Would an occasional blackout help solve climate change?”

They’re only discussing blackouts because they need to soften people up for their REAL PLAN, which is to remotely shut off selected high-power loads in every home, with the obvious first item being air conditioning, but also electric water heaters, stoves, dryers, EV Chargers, etc.

That is real driver for Smart Meters, as they provide the Internet coverage necessary to implement the plan. To give you an idea of how far along they are, I remember reading, years ago, about Microsoft (or some other big tech firm) getting a patent on Internet-controlled wall receptacles.

But keep in mind, when it comes to remote shutdown of things in your home, people will be saying something: “THANK GOD it’s only certain items as they had been talking about full blackouts.”

The reason for taking control of items in your home is that there is no practical means of large-scale energy storage in the green world, as has been discussed in the numerous articles from Manhattan Contrarian posted here.

One other thing to keep in mind: Once they do get their foot in the door with this, the load removals will quickly expand from, say, an hour or two, to multiple days in a row, when cloudy.

...and they are COMPLETELY serious.

Great move, we in the country will be the first forced to live without grid power.

I'm more in favor of having democrats be allowed to breathe 100% Nitrogen for about 30 minutes.

It will clear their minds, and do wonders for their sinuses...

They first need to understand the problem if there is one. They don’t.

How about turning off the hundreds of millions of office building lights that are left on after working hours and when no one is even in the buildings due to tell-commuting.

Washington, D.C. is a ghost city because 90% of the federal workers are no longer showing up to their offices to work. But the lights are still on in the buildings. My guess is that it's easier to justify reduction in force if all the buildings are sold. So the Democrats are wasting energy by running electricity in buildings that are empty.

We had two four hour blackouts last week so the city could stay cool while we baked in the country. If they cut power regularly, it will not be in the city.

Dang! That sounds like the crap Saddam used to pull on the rural dwellers in Iraq.

I live in a neighborhood with frequent black outs. We have old large trees 3 to 4 feet in diameter pines etc and electric on power poles. We get frequent storms that knock over trees and knock down power lines. I and several of my neighbors have gas powered generators. So do these clowns want a bunch of gas powered generators running?

“Random blackouts won’t save that much energy and will put people at risk.”

The key point to remember is that pesky word “Demand”. While you might save on power while it is off, when it comes back on all your stuff, AC/Heating Fridges, freezers, Etc. have to now catch up on their jobs. And they will be doing this all at one time creating a load rated as “maximum demand” at a double rate per Kw hour. just a two hour blackout will end up costing 50% more after it all catches up. It is much more efficient and cheaper to keep it on and let everything maintain optimum conditions. And the power company knows this, blackouts are a scam to create 50% more revenue off the same amount of power used over a time period.

Been there and did the math years ago.

So if we nuked china the world would be saved? Since china produces about 90% of world pollution the problem would be solved.

I live in a DC suburb.

Know I’m safe but would rather live in a Red state! (with a generator.)

Yeh, like 24-7 for a start.

We could just go over to Sammy Roth's and remove all his access to The Evil Fossil Fuels.

ALL access.
