Define defeat. This war started in 2014. Russia now holds more territory in Ukraine than before the war. Ukraine is unable to regain the lost land. Crimea has been fully integrated into Russia.
If Putin can’t defeat a ruined Ukraine then it is obvious that Russia represents no conventional military threat to Europe.

I guess maybe the Ruskies can put on a pretty good defense, but you don’t win wars with a defensive strategy. Ukraine has to spend most of its resources on defense, so can’t really go on the offensive in a big way. This entire war is stupid.
