When Chase Merrill took his first ride in his new Rivian R1S, it was his favorite car that he had ever driven. Merrill, 24, put down a deposit on an R1S three years ago at the urging of family members who also own Rivians. He was unsure about making the switch from his 2015 Ford Edge to a fully electric SUV, especially since he lives in a relatively remote area in the Adirondack Mountains, New York.
But once he got behind the wheel of the $85,626 car on March 10, those worries melted away. "I was in a honeymoon phase," Merrill said in an interview with Insider. "It's an incredible car, and it handles unlike anything I've ever driven" โ but the honeymoon didn't last long. Two days later, Merrill drove his R1S to his family's shared property in the mountains. He wanted to put his rugged electric SUV to the test, so he drove it on the unplowed, snow-covered road into the property. At first, the R1S sliced through the snow. Then, a large snowdrift stymied the car, he said.

There are still young guys around who will do almost anything to impress girls.
I don’t either but $85,000 doesn’t buy as much as it used to.
I heard Volkswagen sells their cars fully equipped but you have to use an app and pay a monthly fee to get things like heated seats for a total of $300 a month for all the features ,LOL
That new super battery is just around the corner,
The Edison Electric Automobile Company in 1903. 1904. 1905.
Dumbass, Cars are NOT Computers on wheels,
No English speaker would ever say, “ . . . it was his favorite car that he had ever driven. “
A robo-monkey might.
Good catch
Because you’re not an obsessed car freak like some of us.
That said I would spend 85k CENTS on an EV that won’t be worth $**t in a few years - besides all the other issuss.
Good point... and you guessed right.
All the “enthusiast” magazines - Car & Driver, Road & Track etc. - were relentlessly pushing EVs in their mags and social media, despite enthusiasts hating it. They also went woke and green... taking idiotic stances on many topics.
They can hardly give away their hardcopy magazines anymore, and they get wrecked in social media.
Dittos. Thanks for stating this.
Ive actually seen some good reviews on y tube about them from private owners that pointed out the qualities and problems they have. So like anything else, theres plenty of lemons in the basket. BTW my Maytag washer, 5 years old with a 10 year warranty on the moor and Tub, just lost the ecm (not under warranty)and cost almost as much as another brand of washer. replacing it isnt difficult but reprogramming it for proper operation after is difficult and requires a good technician.
Ooh, shades of Rush Limbaugh! Thanks!
Liberals (in both parties) are too stupid to do legitimate research. And if CNN doesn't report a story, liberals are ignorant. CNN doesn't report the debacle of EVs, so liberals remain ignorant.
I have heard that wrecking yards wonโt take EVโs. Looks like it you buy one, you are stuck with it forever.
“...so liberals remain ignorant.”
Liberals aren’t ignorant, they’re stupid.
Hey bro. Best to you and she. ๐๐๐
Don't forget...Tesla was raking in billions working the carbon credit grift long before they made a single dollar making cars.
The Rivian actually uses a lot of aluminum, some carbon fiber, and lots of protective coating from the factory. Not the truck for me, but it looks like that part is premium.

>I just never understood spending that much money on a car.
>It gets you from A to B, regardless of how much you pay for it.
Makes sense to you and me, probably not for those with more dollars than sense
Ghe large wrecking yard where I know people will NOT take them.
Doesn’t have Apple CarPlay = automatic dealbreaker for me.
