I suspect the number is FAR higher than “half a million” - probably closer to three million since Biden took office - all destiute and homeless.

This has been going on for YEARS. Those residents need to look at their elected official - then look in the mirror to see who is to blame.
Some of the denizens may be third world, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find half or more being USA natives. Many might be druggies.

The half million is those who got caught, went into the parole system, and were let go. I don’t think it includes the three to five million who snuck in, never got caught, and didn’t enter the parole system.

The only solution is to enforce vagrancy laws, clean up the streets, and send hardcore homeless to some kind of local government detention
faced with that, I am certain 80% of them will find some kind of legal shelter.
The remainder would go to minimum security treatment centers in the countryside (think CCC style camps) where they would have to stay for 6 months, where they could get treatment for addictions, be away from their dealers and get cleaned up.

John Kobalt on KFI radio suggests using an abandoned air force base in the desert - force all of them there - and give them every service imaginable - California is LOADED with such do-gooders and services, such as drug addiction services, church outreach, job services, mental illness services. They stay there until they can re-enter society - or they stay there.
It is simply not fair to the rest of us to have to put up with their filthy habits, their criminality, their raving and ranting in the streets, screaming, drug use in public - throwing the needles into the streets, defecating in public.
Why do they have more rights than the rest of us?
