Russia's latest military aviation project.
While "ukraine" scours the world for leftover P38s, F16s and other semi-flying museum pieces....
The Ukrainians have the Russians on the run with their refurbished Cessnas. It’s all over for Putin.
When Art bell was alive, he had video of this craft or something very similar. Its acrobatic abilities were something else to see.
Always good for a laugh. Thanks Gamey!
I never once saw a flat nozzle.
Russians still use parachutes to slow a landing aircraft?
Russia has some of the best military R&D in the world, always has since back in the Soviet Days. Their big problem is these new whiz bang systems hardly ever make it out of the prototype stage. It comes down to how they fund weapons systems. Instead of appropriating money specifically to new systems and going through a open and public contract bidding process, they just hand a pot of money to heads of the various military branches to do with as they will. This means graft and kickbacks are rampant. The military leaders have zero incentive to invest in new and expensive high-tech weapons systems. They give contracts to their friends (and often times relatives) and award contracts based on how much the company will funnel back into their pockets. The companies in turn crank out obsolete, but easy to manufacture weapons systems and have zero incentive to improve or incorporate the latest technology.
Those Russians sure are supermen.
Cute video. Where’s the vectored thrusters? All I see is an overhyped fourth generation fighter.
Watched a video on this plane, it has exposed fasteners and other design “features” that negate its title as fifth gen.
Its radar cross section is at best 4th generation and if it was so effective you would see it in the fight instead of hiding under the covers.
Like much of the vaunted Soviet er as Russian military products, advertised performance and actual performance rarely match.
Any possible export market would completely disappear when one gets shot down by a stinger or even a patriot
Next to petro dollar’s military exports have been a “hugh and seris” part of their revenue stream, would imagine after performance against Ukraine even if they could produce enough for export that market is just about gone
You’re spot on here. I’ve also seen the closeups showing flat head Phillips screws all over it obviating any claims of stealthiness.
Racist, purely racist. The pilots of these things were all white!!!!! No inclusion, no diversity, no transgenders. Without them Russia will surely lose the Ukrainian war!!!
They at least need pecker-pianists to lead their country into the future. (all said in sarcasm)
There are only a dozen or so of them in service and they are all prototypes not production models - production which can’t be done now due to the host of Western parts they require for their electronics and because the State is out of money to produce the very expensive non-stealthy toy.
Doesn’t matter much how maneuverable you are if you can be seen first, you will get shot down. The point on corruption is also spot on
I was an early critic of the f-35, but new technology does take time to work the bugs out, the there is economy of scale
Something I don’t see Russia ever achieving
Oh ,state of the art technology. Just like the T72 tanks . How did they work out for them? I will have to call BS on this propaganda.
P38’s?
Yup, just like the T-14 Armata "shocked" the world in 2015. LOL, still waiting for its actual production.
In 2015 the United States and NATO received a rude shock: The Russian Army unveiled a new main battle tank, known as T-14 Armata.

Did you know that the United States' newest fighter aircraft, the F-35A, has an option for a drogue parachute?
It is part of a cold weather package because on an icy runway conventional brakes don't work very well.
Since Russia designs their aircraft to work in Siberia, almost all of their aircraft have drogue parachutes.
Some of the best fighters in WW2 were Russian and Italian. The Yak-3/9, Fiat G.55, Macchi C.205 Veltro and the Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario
You've been here a long time. ;0)
Very interesting…I had no idea. Thanks for contributing to my learning today!
Four F-35B from the Yuma, AZ-based “Black Sheep Squadron” visited Pappy Boynington Field in Coeur d’Alene last month. It was a fantastic display.
