British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has a message for Republicans who want to turn their backs on Ukraine: America is at its strongest when it embraces the world

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly on Wednesday said that it was in America's best interests to keep backing Ukraine in its war with Russia, and that the U.S. was at its strongest when it when it engaged with the rest of the world.

The U.K. has been at the forefront of efforts to shore up Ukraine's armed forces, training soldiers and sending arms, as it fends off the Russian invasion.

But officials have privately expressed concern that a growing strand of isolationism among Republicans who back Donald Trump's America First stance could choke off aid from Washington, which has so far sent $40 billion in military assistance — by far the biggest contribution.

Cleverly, who was in the U.S. to attend the Aspen Security Forum, told DailyMail.com he was confident that it was a minority position for now.

But he said his message to skeptics was that the world had to stick with Ukraine.

'Because if we don't, if we allow Putin to prevail, if we don't establish the principle that you cannot change borders by force, the world has become a more dangerous place,' he said.

'That'll be more disruptive, more expensive, and therefore, it's better that we deal with this issue ... now and deal with it properly rather than a few years down the line.'

Hardline Republicans such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene have slammed the Biden administration for spending billions on Ukraine while failing to close the southern border.

Others have highlighted how American families are struggling with rising bills while money flows overseas.

Cleverly said that was the wrong way to see America's place in the world.

"Politicians talking about morality, it’s like lecturing folks about morals from a brothel. Politics is the selling of influence and in the West is at BEST amoral."

Nailed it.

Nearly every entity and individual in the West that forced an experimental "vaccine" on people, locked them down and attempted to destroy everyone who questioned their authority to do so is also a cheerleader for sending weapons and cash to Ukraine, that hyper-corrupt sinkhole and human/child trafficking and money laundering mecca being headed by a degenerate, WEF puppet.

Same goes for every entity and individual who conspired to destroy Trump and helped steal the 2020 election.

These people are a pox on the West and must be neutered.

He’s not exactly Winston Churchill.

Still, it’s a tough gig.

In the poisonous US political-social atmosphere its tough to make a sales pitch that won’t piss off one side or the other. He has to get along with both. This is a conundrum for any nation anywhere, when dealing with the US at this point.

He did manage to say something without putting his foot in his mouth, so I guess that’s a win.

"We already bailed them out in two world wars."

While American military personnel were fighting and dying in Viet Nam, British ships were in port in Haiphong harbor trading with the North Vietnamese.

There were 37 foreign-flag ships in Haiphong: 16 Soviet, 5 Chinese, 5 Somalian, 4 British, 3 Polish, 2 Cuban, and 1 East German. The mines were set with a series time fuze delay of 72 hours to allow these neutral ships time to leave port, and another series time fuze would disable the mine after 180 days.[2]

The British won the war in Crimea despite one CF after another. The charge of The Light Brigade happened during that conflict.

The British might have lost to Argentina if the United States hadn’t provided assistance.

America’s economic dominance requires it. Isolationism means the end of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency and if that stops, the US economy will collapse because it wont be able to print more money without causing hyperinflation.

Secondly, letting Putin win in Ukraine means a war over Taiwan, and military conflict with China would be inevitable.

Translation: we want American treasure and American blood, shed for Ukraine.

Nice take.

The nerve of NATO co-conspirators chiding US over our morals, b/c we
<><> want to save ourselves from the vile Deep State,
<><> want to avoid nuclear war with Russia
<><> want to keep the money we work hard to earn
<><> want to invest in the US instead of Nazi Azovs in the Ukraine.

The DNC is propped up by the Ukrainian/Biden money laundry.
They are draining us of weapons and money.

One reads -- "Cleverly, who was in the U.S. to attend the Aspen Security Forum..."

This Aspen Security Forum has a website, proclaiming itself non-partisan, all the while the splash page features pictures of Blinken, Mayorkas, Jake Sullivan and more DEMOCRATS.

Source: https://www.aspensecurityforum.org/ A review of their Speakers gives a more complete frame around the Cleverly remark that the US should pony up more and more "support" for a non-NATO conflict between two non-NATO nations.

Source: https://www.aspensecurityforum.org/2023-asf-speakers

More than $32 trillion in debt and piling on more debt each day, these world pipsqueaks and DEMOCRATS are busy vomiting money for their non-NATO project. As long as we pay for it....

As the old joke goes, "let's you and him fight" says the one instigates. Sort of a worldwide version of Ray Epps....

Why does “embracing the world” mean pouring yet more tens of billions of taxpayer dollars down the rat hole of Ukraine?

It lines the pockets of the corrupt MIC here at home. A lot of it get skimmed off by corrupt elites in Ukraine.

It pushes us closer to a conflict with a major nuclear power.

It pushes the largest commodity supplier on Earth - Russia - right into the arms of our biggest threat - China.

Its stupid and self destructive for all those reasons. We should stay out of foreign wars of choice where we have no vital national interest - like Ukraine. Syria is another example. Anywhere in Africa is yet another example.
