GOP Stands with Trump Against Biden’s ‘UnAmerican Weaponization’ of DOJ: ‘Americans Won’t Stand for This’

Republican officials blasted the Justice Department’s January 6 probe and the reportedly imminent indictment of former President Donald J. Trump, expressing support for Trump in the face of the “weaponization” of the justice system against President Joe Biden’s opponents.

Following Trump’s announcement of being a target in the DOJ’s probe, GOP members slammed special counsel Jack Smith’s “corrupt” investigation.

“President Trump just increased his lead in the polls. So what does the Biden Administration do next? Weaponize government to go after President Biden’s number one opponent,” wrote House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

“This is not equal justice. It’s wrong, and the American public is tired of it,” he added.

“Joe Biden’s DOJ: Attack the Portland Federal Courthouse? No problem. Intimidate #SCOTUS justices to influence a court decision? No big deal. But if you’re President Trump and do nothing wrong? PROSECUTE,” wrote Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH).

“Americans are tired of the double standard!” he added.

“Let me get this straight: Biden’s DOJ targets Trump again the same week he’s up in the polls & an IRS whistleblower is testifying that Biden’s DOJ obstructed an IRS investigation into Hunter,” wrote House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).

I agree. Americans won’t stand for this. A *VAST* majority will turtle up and expect the situation to correct itself. Tell me I’m wrong!

If we are going to resist, then we need to be clear on what “weaponization” means: authoritarianism and police state tactics.

"How many realize that they are next if they wimp out?"

How many realize they are next if they are ok with it in the hopes of clearing a path to fame and glory?

I have zero doubt there are 'Republicans' that are just as involved. I'll bet most Freepers could throw out names that would probably be accurate.

Don’t forget those YouTube videos, where Republicans act like they’re actually men, but then the Democrats walk out laughing later.

I remember reading about the McCarthy era and thinking that would never happen here again.

“GOP Stands with Trump Against Biden’s ‘UnAmerican Weaponization’ of DOJ”

Hopefully DeSantis joins them instead of claiming that “Trump should have done more” (to stop the near-overthrow of the US government...LOL).

Stay calm folks - keep your wallets, purses and gun safes closed.

So DeSantis joins them in making statements, and doing nothing.

Hey, Party unity !

The “principal officers of the executive departments” are the 15 Cabinet members named in the U.S. Code at 5 U.S.C 101:

Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Secretary of Homeland Security

https://info.cooley.edu/blog/what-does-the-25th-amendment-mean-by-acting-cabinet-officers

I think Joe Biden is suffering from dementia.

Why doesn’t the House of Representatives call in the cabinet officers to see what they think, starting with Merrick Garland.

If Merrick Garland denies that Joe Biden is demented and unfit for office, he will have committed perjury IMO.

He won’t.

There are unverified reports, as of now, out there that DeSantis would tell his staff how he was hoping President Trump would be talen out of the race by one of the fraudulent legal cases.

“There are unverified reports, as of now, out there that DeSantis would tell his staff how he was hoping President Trump would be talen out of the race by one of the fraudulent legal cases.”

Which is why I say that DeSantis likely considers his campaign ‘successful’ if it manages to give the rest of the GOP cover to take out Trump (meaning that they think “we can win with DeSantis, so why defend Trump?”).

The problem, OBVIOUSLY, is that, while this may work for getting rid of Trump, it also means that DeSantis gets his ass kicked in November as many, if not most, of the MAGA voters simply will not vote for a person who’s into that kind of crap, or at least perceived that way, which is the case at this point.
