Ukraine and the West are facing a devastating defeat...(The prospect of a failed counter-offensive and significant territorial concessions)
Telegraph UK ^ | 7/18/2023 | Robert Clark

Since Putin’s tanks crossed into Ukrainian territory, three options have been on the table for how this war would end:... victory for one side or the other, a frozen conflict or a negotiated settlement.

The long-planned counter-offensive, has run into several problems.. It is incredibly tough going for the Ukrainians. They lack the air cover and advanced jets to protect their ground forces from Russian attack helicopters and fighters. Their soldiers, meanwhile must negotiate miles of minefields, tank-traps and then ultimately the heavily dug Russian trench networks.

The variable that isn’t on their side is time. In war, time is perhaps the cruellest factor one cannot change...Summer will soon begin to roll into autumn. Indeed, we are already half-way through the season. The fighting will begin to grind to a cold halt as the freezing winter saps troops’ ability to conduct high-intensity warfare. This will only give Russia more time to further build up its defences, as it did last winter.

If Kyiv fails in its battlefield endeavours 'to split that land bridge, and retake much of its own territory' by winter, then vocal calls of territorial concessions for marginal political outcomes will likely become far more prevalent – not just in Ukraine but likely from western capitals, as so-called “war-fatigue” begins to bite, international stockpiles of equipment and ammunition wither and politicians begin to worry about domestic budgets ahead of national elections.

"Russian imperialists don’t want Odesa and Zaporizhzhia? You really believe that? Why the reluctance to admit Putin can be defeated? How soon we memory hole the fact that Russia’s own army was shooting Russian aircraft out of Russian skies just weeks ago."

Sure RuZZZZZZai!!! can be defeated, just not by the idiotic Biden Regime and nutless NATO. NATO has devolved into a subsidy for theEU's nanny socialist states.

Your tears of ultimate sadness are delicious!

"The sooner Ukraine surrenders the sooner Russia can get back supplying energy to Europe. Then kiss those good American energy jobs in Texas goodbye, too, since we will lose the European market."

Yup. the response by NATO and the Biden Regime to Russia's invasion has been an epic disaster and after the war there will be no love felt by most European for America. I can imagine that Russia will demand reparations for all the $ billions of RuZZZZian assets seized by the Biden regime.

You are suggesting that we continue the war in Ukraine to save jobs?

How many wars has the USA won in your own lifetime?
That is a question we EACH need to consider.
Viet Nam?
Korea?
Afghanistan?
Taliban?
War on Terror?
On Poverty?
On Drugs?
The wars where USA has done the most damage to the USA include:
War on unborn children.
War on women.
Am I wrong?

After this war has run it’s course, Zelensky will be doing well to live, period. Living large, anywhere, would not be a good life choice for him.

Just sayin’.

They were all once part of the Soviet Union and Putin believes that’s all the justification he needs.

I never said Poland, you did. I spent my entire Army career facing off with the Soviet Union, studying their tactics and watching them closely. Putin has said over and over the demise of the old SU was the worst thing ever to happen. His self appointed task is to rebuild as much of it as he can. Should he win in Ukraine, he will be on his way to doing just that.

That’s his entire motivation for the war - Be the Russian leader who restores the Imperial borders. That’s the mark he wants in history. Everything else you hear is propaganda.

I’m suggesting it’s in American conservatives moral, economic and political interest to kick Russian influence and corruption out of Europe. Those who wish to Make Russia Great Again, obviously, disagree.

He waves the Imperial banner more then the Soviet banner. If it was Soviet only would the government be funding a cathedral dedicated to the - Holy Martyrs, the murdered Romanovs?

Blinken has said Ukraine will become a member of NATO, presumably when this war ends, one way or the other.

That will freeze the border between Russia and Ukraine, because any further attack by Russia will be an attack NATO.

There has always been conflict in Ukraine and Deep Corruption in its Governance. Both conitions which will keep it from joining Nato - the end of THIS conflict won’t change that....
