Since Putin’s tanks crossed into Ukrainian territory, three options have been on the table for how this war would end:... victory for one side or the other, a frozen conflict or a negotiated settlement.
The long-planned counter-offensive, has run into several problems.. It is incredibly tough going for the Ukrainians. They lack the air cover and advanced jets to protect their ground forces from Russian attack helicopters and fighters. Their soldiers, meanwhile must negotiate miles of minefields, tank-traps and then ultimately the heavily dug Russian trench networks.
The variable that isn’t on their side is time. In war, time is perhaps the cruellest factor one cannot change...Summer will soon begin to roll into autumn. Indeed, we are already half-way through the season. The fighting will begin to grind to a cold halt as the freezing winter saps troops’ ability to conduct high-intensity warfare. This will only give Russia more time to further build up its defences, as it did last winter.
If Kyiv fails in its battlefield endeavours 'to split that land bridge, and retake much of its own territory' by winter, then vocal calls of territorial concessions for marginal political outcomes will likely become far more prevalent – not just in Ukraine but likely from western capitals, as so-called “war-fatigue” begins to bite, international stockpiles of equipment and ammunition wither and politicians begin to worry about domestic budgets ahead of national elections.

The war will end—all wars do in time. The borders will change—they always do. Ukraine will be rebuilt into a nice place with parks and monuments to the “Heroes who died,” they always do such things. LOOK AT Hiroshima in Japan today. America, in her arrogance thought we could change history and stop such things—we couldn’t. Borders change? Just ask Tibet. We are coming to a point where our borders will change. I could see a time when Alaska will return to Russia and Hawaii become a free nation, I can imagine Baja California becoming part of the North American Union and Canada absorbed into this new nation state. History marches on.

I think Zelensky gets to stay as figurehead for about 4 years, then retires to somewhere with his billions he got from our middle class. When they finally make the peace deal, I think Russia lets him save some face, but finds a way to keep him on a short leash.
Since we made Zelensky a billionaire, I am sure the temptation to finally start living large is becoming overwhelming to him.
Lol. Thread winner.
No they won’t. All ukes I’ve talked to don’t support this. They hate zelensky with a passion. Oust him and sign a deal, let things settle. That won’t happen though. West wants a war and they’ll keep pushing.
Thanks.
However when people are too quick to say there’s a PAYWALL, esepcially when thre isn’t, it could be they’re trying to simply divert people away from reading what they don’t want you to read.

The Minsk Agreement, which we squashed and never intended to allow Ukraine to follow through on, is looking like a sweetheart deal for Ukraine.
Not my concern.
In truth, other than ceasefire, there is little for Ukraine to concede, since Russia are already in possession of most of the territory that they initially sought to conquer.
Russian imperialists don’t want Odesa and Zaporizhzhia? You really believe that? Why the reluctance to admit Putin can be defeated? How soon we memory hole the fact that Russia’s own army was shooting Russian aircraft out of Russian skies just weeks ago.
The sooner Ukraine surrenders, the sooner we can stop pouring money into it and get down to shedding light on the democrat corruption taking place over there.
Garland, the FBI, the CIA aren't interested in exposing Democrat corruption.
The sooner Ukraine surrenders the sooner Russia can get back supplying energy to Europe. Then kiss those good American energy jobs in Texas goodbye, too, since we will lose the European market.
Ukraine does have a habit of keeping frozen conflicts of one form or another going on over the decades...even among themselves. The Oligarchs and Political leadership can't seem to keep their country at peace...as their History shows.
I’m not sure how much more Putin wants of the land - but he will most certainly secure his ports and any other line of defense he thinks is necessary to protect his country from Western ambitions.
