Picture looks odd. The troops haven’t worn that uniform (BDU) for almost 20 years. How can that be if Pvt King is only 23?

Those aren't BDUs. They're the new(ish) Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP), which, in a blurry photo have some similarity to BDU woodland.
