To get a perfect french fry you have to wash the starch off of the spuds after cutting them (keeps the fry from cooking properly). I-N-O doesn’t do that, thus soggy fries.

I'm in California and I totally agree with you - nothing special about In-N-Out burgers and fries; the fries are particularly tasteless. But, at a couple of In-N-Out burger places nearby there are always long drive-through lines and full parking lots. I think it's a cult.

I live in Texas. So, I’m a Whataburger guy. However, there’s an In & Out near me. So, in the interest of objectivity I tried their burger and fries. I must say they both were crap. Didn’t finish either.

I'm in Florida so there are Whataburgers here. I've eaten a lot of In-n-Out in California and they're much better than Whataburger, it's no contest. I'll take In-n-Out any day and twice on Sunday!

Whataburger is good but still behind in-n-out, matter of fact smashburger and even wendy’s I find better than Whataburger although five guys being good too is waaaaay to expensive to have more than once a year
