Los Angeles Police Department has lost about 1,000 officers since 2019..

The vice president of a Los Angeles police union encouraged officers to ditch the city and find work elsewhere during unsuccessful salary negotiations with the city.

Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) Vice President Jerretta Sandoz

...

Sandoz's displeasure comes as the city continues to lose more and more officers who are frustrated with treatment by city officials. Police Commissioner Erroll Southers has called the loss of officers "very, very discouraging,"

... Meanwhile, crime and homelessness are spiking in California's largest city. Democrat Mayor Karen Bass signed an updated declaration of a state of emergency on homelessness last week, granting her additional powers to expedite the process of building more housing, call for the emergency service of city employees and coordinate citywide planning to respond to the homeless crisis.

...

Overall, California has by far the most homeless people of any state. On a single night last year, 30% of all people experiencing homelessness in the country, or 171,521 people, were in California

I would rather become a juggler in a traveling carnival than be a police officer in LA, or any other Democrat led city.

Over time, this phenomenon is becoming a conservative-progressive divorce, validated with various kinds of walking away. Choosing not to work for the progressive. Or buy his movie ticket. Or drink his beer. Or shop at his store. And more.

What is certain, however, is that the "progressive" regularly tries to obtain that which he would deny others. Police protection is one of them. Those public progressives howling about "defunding" police also try to obtain their own policing through various means. The insincerity of this is becoming most evident to more than just conservatives.

Walk away. Walk away wins in the long run.

Florida respects and supports our police departments - LA cops might want to consider Florida

Well, the weather is nice. But the dope. Kommiefornia has been synonymous with easy drugs ever since it was invaded by hippy scum from the east.

It's always about easy access to drugs. Live in a box? No sweat. "Just give me the dope."

Step in and around human feces all day? No sweat. "Just give me the dope."

Sorry I don’t have much sympathy for cops that make decent 6-figure salaries then go out on disability, 90% tax free, with benefits the rest of their lives.

Add to that, the private security companies working in the business improvement districts in LA. They catch the guy they had them over to the cops.

One of the guys from Uber, we supported the defund the police movement, is starting an armed Uber service. I’m thinking that soon that will branch out into more arm security. No need for the police.

If people think the police don’t have accountability now, waiting till it’s all privatized, and they are doing the bidding of their corporate masters

A couple years ago at a South Dakota campgrounds the folks beside us were retired LA cops. They were checking out SD as a place to move to. There was just no way they wanted to retire in CA. And they were Hispanic Trumpsters to top it off. They were good people in my opinion, the kind you’d want to move into a red state.

And their “corporate masters” donate generous sums to the campaign treasuries of local politicians.

Concur. Well said. This is exactly what’s happening. Liberals seemingly control everything. Therefore, one of the few options left is to disengage from them as much as possible, and that’s what’s occurring. People are moving out of blue states, cutting the cord to avoid paying CNN, Disney, ESPN, and the likes. And, as much as possible, stop engaging in commerce with companies that hate you but gladly take your money, like Hollywood, Bud Light, etc.

I agree. But disengagement will only be tolerated for a season...then the cleansings begin.

Not to be cynical, but I would imagine they may also have been looking to move out of California in order to avoid having to pay state incomes taxes on their public pensions. A fair number of retired teachers from California move to Nevada for that exact reason.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, but just look at the liberal government in this very article.

What happens is their policies are such utter disasters, and they refuse to concede or make course corrections, so what do they do? Why they simply declare an “emergency” and grab even more authoritarian control, which I don’t think will stop.

I am convinced that liberal politicians will increasingly declare emergencies (climate change) to grab ever more power. Unconstitutional? Sure. But by the time it’s all challenged the damage is done and society is more conditioned to this authoritarianism. Watch. This will be the trend.

After running a video of that commentary, add on the cut of the guy with the hammer and punch inscribing Mark VII productions. Jack Webb must be doing 360s in his grave.

Note that rather than fight the people responsible for making LA hell on earth, the union is telling its dues paying members to cut and run rather than fight.

After all, the union can always get more warm bodies, can’t it?

Especially if standards are nil and citizenship isn’t a requirement.

Note to the cops: Best option is to DECERTIFY YOUR DAMN UNION.

The union doesn’t work for you, idjits.

Get one that does.

You could be right, but the reason they cited was high crime and lack of respect for cops by the politicians and public.

You’re 100% correct

And the people that have sold the seats for all of us, the liberal voters in the Hollywood elite that have enabled all of in safe, places, and/or have the ability to hire a private arm to security.

As is always the case, none of the decision makers, nor their big money supporters are affected by the consequences
