DeSantis Confronts a Murdoch Empire No Longer Quite So Supportive [Rupert shifting to Youngkin]
NY Slimes ^

Posted on 07/17/2023 2:17:07 PM PDT by GulliverSwift

Mr. DeSantis was always bound to be subjected to more scrutiny as a candidate, rather than a candidate in waiting. His decision to challenge Mr. Trump — who remains a favorite of Fox News’s audience and some of its hosts, including Ms. Bartiromo — was also certain to result in sideswipes from fellow Republicans.

But taken together, the signs of skepticism from previously friendly conservative megaphones suggest that Mr. Murdoch’s media empire might now be reassessing him as the early shine comes off his campaign.

Even if Mr. Murdoch’s outlets as a whole are less determinative of outcomes in Republican politics than they once were, they remain influential, and G.O.P. candidates and major party donors still pay close attention to their coverage.

Whether Mr. Murdoch wants to see Mr. DeSantis as the nominee is unclear. Some of Mr. DeSantis’s moves — like his ongoing punitive battle with Disney — are unlikely to have pleased the business-minded Mr. Murdoch, who nearly a decade ago called for federal officials to make immigration reform a priority.

The media mogul likes to watch political races play out, even live-tweeting reactions to one of the Republican presidential debates during the 2016 election. Mr. Murdoch has privately told people that he would still like to see Gov. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia enter the race, according to a person with knowledge of the remarks. And he has made clear in private discussions over the last two years that he thinks Mr. Trump, despite his popularity with Fox News viewers, is unhealthy for the Republican Party.

Yeah it's the Times, but they have historically been good about getting scuttlebutt from inside the NY media world since they're all part of the same globalist circles.

Watching the coverage myself, I'd say it's definitely true that Rupert Moloch has ordered his employees to propagandize for Glenn Youngkin. Anyone but Trump.

Fox and MSNBC were anti-DeSantis from day 1.

Nobody in the media should be anti-anybody.

It’s so stupid. There’s no way in hell that Republican voters would pick Youngkin over Trump.

But Moloch loves his fellow Wall Street elites like Youngkin so he can’t see that.

They change their political candidates more than they change their underwear. What a bunch of fickle fools.

Fun fact :

The qwerty keyboard was developed to slow the rate of words per minute a typist could type so they would not be able to earn more for their wpm piece work pay.

Your list ignores the great things Trump did for the prosperity of our nation.

Not to mention the rescuing of child sex slaves across the nation.

Weird.

Rupert shifting to Youngkin

Well, if Youngkin takes the bait after seeing what has happened to everyone else, he is a fool and therefore should be forever ineligible.

No, they weren't backing DeSantis. Fox and MSNBC were slamming him.

next you’ll tell me they are backing jeb bush for 2024.

I don't think Jeb. But since Trump governed like him, that slot was taken.

I was thinking today that Trump should choose Youngkin as his running mate. He could be the first Republican to pick up Virginia since 2004, and with all the cheating he needs every electoral point.

Poor Rupert. In periods of political disruption, businessmen become obsessed with politics but are near clueless as to what the public actually thinks about politics. The usual metrics — polling, fund-raising, and candidate quality — also become unreliable as a guide to candidate strength.

Based on what? Show me one thing to substantiate it that's not a rumor on a blog. I've seen articles that Fox News and MSNBC are bashing DeSantis, but you say they are supporting him?

It's weird, because when the mainstream media says anything about Trump, you say they are liars. (Which they are.) But when the mainstream media attacks a conservative, or even a potential conservatoire, you say the media is 110% truthful.

You people think Ted Cruz is a serial killer who committed his killings before he was even born. You call me a liar because I say he isn't a serial killer.
