Former President Donald Trump is boasting a 39-point lead in the Republican primary race, a TIPP Insights survey found.
The survey found Trump with majority support, 53 percent, among registered Republicans and Republicans who lean independent. That reflects a two-point drop from the 55 percent who said the same in June.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in a distant second with 14 percent support. That reflects a five-point drop for the presidential hopeful in the span of one month.
Anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy saw the greatest increase in support over the last month, tying former Vice President Mike Pence for third place by jumping from two percent support to seven percent.
Pence ticked up one point, moving from six percent support to seven in July. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley tied for three percent support, followed by former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with two percent. Remaining candidates, including former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, saw one percent support or less. Another ten percent said “some else,” and nine percent remain unsure.
That portion of the survey was taken July 5-7, 2024, among 486 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents and has a +/- 4.6 percent margin of error.

Ramaswamy has a great chance of finishing ahead of DeSantis. He's in touch with the base. DeSantis has sold his soul to the GOP establishment and its donors.
But George Will (who hasn’t had a correct prediction since the 1980’s) just came out yesterday and said neither Trump nor Desantis will be the nominee, that you can take it too the bank! He guarantees it!
I think Ramaswamy would make a terrific VP candidate in 2024. Trump would be smart to pick him.
You need someone who speaks to a different constituency (if you’re trying to help the ticket). Trump should not trust his VP too much if he needs someone to help the ticket. Kemp would be that person I think because he’s obviously got the support of the cheaters in GA who will tank Trump in GA if they can. Maybe the guy out of VA also.
Have you watched and listened to Ramaswamy? He’s at best a high school debater (and I was one 46 years ago). He has zero authenticity, no life experience. He’s just not credible. And that is without going into his anchor baby disqualification, his Soros connections, his hiring of H1B, his lack of understanding the Constitution, lack of understanding American culture and tradition, etc.
He is a maga come lately quote generator, who thinks he can do the job better than Trump. Mabey, he gets a cabinet position somewhere.
He as as much chance is Nikki Haley, hs vote is a protest no real support...i.e. a novelty candidate to needle Desantis...the party needs to unite around Trump and his VP will be the next party leader...so much work to do with ballot harvesting...without that GOP cannot win.
DeSantis is finished, not only in 2024 but going forward. He's this election cycle's Ted Cruz.
No, disagree on all points. Ramaswamy is tactically talking but has no authenticity and life experience. Yes, maybe excites some people that want a fresh non-White face but he’ll never gain any traction. For DeSantis, he’s not finished any more that people kept saying Trump was. There’s eight months to the first caucuses and primaries. DeSantis vs Cruz, interesting comparison. Cruz was whiny-voiced grating character with no history of success. DeSantis is accomplished governor, family man, with clear focus on issues that are important to all of us. Maybe a bit of hindsight, but Cruz talked but had no chance of accomplishing anything. DeSantis has accomplished actions to back up his talk. Thus, more credibility. Trump has lots of talk, some actions, too many were simply EOs that were erased when he left. I think in the end between DeSantis and Trump it will be a matter of drama and baggage. Trump has everyone beat on those two.
Absolutely meaningless poll at this point. The primary campaigns haven’t even started.
Soon he will be fifty points ahead
Agree, he appeals to a segment that can’t stand Trump. His VP choice has to be one that broadens his appeal.
Really, appears out of nowhere, and starts spouting maga talking points. Smells fishy.
If he moves into second place, the nickname will come, and it will stick.
Trump doesn’t need another VP that will try to undermine like Pence did. Any establishment type must be ruled out.
He has said several times that he will NOT take the number two spot.
Good
Exactly. 👍
After hearing him speak at Turning Point, I agree. He had fire in the belly. Made points quickly and clearly, the “running to something,” not “running from something” analogy was great.
I also like that his family came from elsewhere and he was born American. I’m naturalized, born in Sicily. It’s the American Meritocracy Dream—and he appears to get it.
Admiral Stockdales not available and nobody is squeaky fng clean.
Conservative woman to fight for women’s rights to not have their gender appropriated.
That sounds about right.
