Tucker Carlson Is Creating a New Media Company: Former Fox News host and associate look to raise funds for new venture that could use Twitter as its backbone

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former White House adviser Neil Patel are seeking to raise funds to start a new media company that would potentially use Twitter as its backbone, according to people familiar with the matter.

The new company would be anchored by longer versions of the free videos that Carlson has been posting regularly on Twitter since shortly after his departure from Fox News, but would ultimately be driven by subscriptions, some of the people said.

Carlson and Patel are looking to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to fund the company, the people said. Users of Twitter and other platforms would still be able to watch free, shorter versions of his show, interviews and documentaries, but would need to subscribe to watch them in their entirety, the people said. The company would eventually add shows from additional hosts, they said.

Carlson and Patel were roommates at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., from which they graduated in 1991, and in 2010 teamed up to found the conservative Daily Caller news site, which Patel still controls. They have lined up financiers, lawyers and media strategists to work on the new company, according to people familiar with the effort.

Carlson’s team met with a Twitter team in recent weeks to discuss the endeavor, people familiar with the matter said.

Carlson and Patel’s new company would also have its own website and mobile app, and is exploring other homes beyond Twitter for its content as well, some of the people said.

Other big stars who have left TV have built thriving digital businesses, but sometimes with smaller audiences and less influence than they had before, media observers said.

This is very smart. Truth Social was floundering when they tried to do their own infrastructure. It only took off when they went to using Rumble as their backbone.

Tucker and former FOX personalities and conservatives, need to create an alternative to FOX news...

BUT...

it has to be a cable news network. Podcasts and streaming services are not quite the competition that FOX and CNN and MSNBC need. It’s a lot easier to put on a TV station on a TV than having to got to a podcast or go to a streaming host.

Twitter TV is what I suggested a couple months ago, but a true TV station.

Based on the Tucker love affair by the drama queen knuckle draggers around here there shouldn't be a problem getting funding.

I wonder how much he is willing to put up? And also the worlds richest champion of free speech, Musk for that matter.

Call it Preaching To The Choir channel.

Twitter as the backbone of anything is a little scary.

Permission to respectfully disagree.

Podcasts and streaming is much easier that cable television. the issue with new digital media is there are so many options out there, it’s hard to get a digital footprint. Currently, Joe Rogan leads, but Tucker is catching up fast.

If the Twitterspace can remain unconnected from the ‘narrative keepers’, they’ll be out of business as soon as the major advertisers realize what kind dwindling audience they are facing.

People watch TV and in many homes, TV is on for at least 8 hours a day. Some people even dedicate a TV to watching news channels all the time. A Twitter TV station would guarantee that watching it would be a lot easier as a regular TV station.

BTW, I use streaming TV all the time, since my TV channels come via Frontier Wi-Fi, and my streaming channels are from YouTube TV.

I have all the news channels available via YouTube, and that’s a lot easier than having to get at a service via computer or laptop or smartphone or tablet. I can get YouTube via all those mediums, but YouTube and other TV streaming services make it easier. And, if you can get cable TV, getting those news channels would be even easier.

Not good to rely entirely on Twitter without a guarantee that it won’t again turn woke. Look at what Murdoch’s lefty sons did to Fox. Remember what Amazon did to Parler?

Newsmax and OANN don't have the computing infrastructure, and that is where it is all going.

It’s not as if Twitter does not have rivals.

We have Parler and Gab already in existence. Communities will flock to whichever media supports their values.

I agree with that. The cable/broadcasting medium is outdated and soon to be obsolete. All media is moving to a streaming "on demand" model over the internet.

In otherwords, instead of Tucker at 9PM on FOX, you will get the latest Tucker show dropped to the internet and you will be able to stream it at your leisure and on your own schedule.

This is where all media is going.

In fact it must be anything BUT a cable network. See OANN for why. Might as well just hand over your money to the deep state media companies and save time.

Fortunately Tucker knows how to do this - streaming.

Okay, see OANN for why.

How popular are they? How many viewers do they have? Do they have an audience bigger than FOX, or even CNN or MSNBC?
