BREAKING: Fed-Protected J6 Provocateur Ray Epps Sues FOX for Defamation… Tucker Carlson and Revolver News in Crosshairs…

It was inevitable, and it finally happened. The New York Times reported earlier today that Ray Epps has formally filed a lawsuit against Fox News for Tucker Carlson’s reporting on Ray Epps’ participation in the January 6 protest at the Capitol.

Ray Epps, the man at the center of a widespread conspiracy theory about the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday accusing Fox News and its former host Tucker Carlson of defamation for promoting a “fantastical story” that Mr. Epps was an undercover government agent who instigated the violence at the Capitol as a way to disparage then-President Trump and his supporters.

The complaint was filed in Superior Court in Delaware, where Fox was recently handed a $787.5 million judgment in a separate defamation case brought against the network by Dominion Voting Systems to combat claims that the company had helped to rig the 2020 election against Mr. Trump.

“Just as Fox had focused on voting machine companies when falsely claiming a rigged election, Fox knew it needed a scapegoat for January 6th,” the complaint says. “It settled on Ray Epps and began promoting the lie that Epps was a federal agent who incited the attack on the Capitol.”

Despite Epps’ behavior depicted in the video above, he remains the only January 6th participant about whom the New York Times wrote a fully dedicated puff piece, that 60 minutes bothered to do a sympathy segment on, that Adam Kinzinger bends over backwards to defend, and whom the Department of Justice, normally bloodthirsty for new January 6 defendants, would for whatever reason decide not to charge. The extraordinary protection of Epps is all the more bizarre when one considers that not only is he a former Marine in a Trump hat and military camo urging people to go “INTO” the Capitol, he also happens to be the former leader of the Arizona chapter of the Oath Keepers, the most demonized and heavily prosecuted militia group associated with January 6th whose leader was found guilty of seditious conspiracy. In other words, given his documented behavior and what he looks like on paper, Epps would have been a prime poster boy candidate to be charged by the DOJ and to be vilified in the media as a key figure in the so-called January 6th insurrection.

And in fact, originally Epps did receive a portion of the negative attention one might expect given the nature of his involvement in January 6th. As Revolver pointed out early on, Ray Epps was one of the first twenty people to be added to the FBI’s January 6th most wanted list. Epps is actually still depicted on the most wanted list on the FBI’s Twitter account. The New York Times itself, now one of Epps’ most prominent defenders, once featured Ray Epps prominently in its ominously titled “Day of Rage” video documentary on January 6th.

Shortly after Revolver News gained national attention for running stories exploring the possibility of federal involvement in January 6th, Epps’ name was quietly taken off the FBI’s most wanted list, and gradually Epps came to enjoy the unlikely support of Adam Kinzinger, the New York Times, 60 Minutes, and others.

Ray Epps’ stated position, which you can read in his new complaint against Fox News, is that he never worked for the Federal government or served as an informant, and that he only tried to rile up the crowd on January 5th to go into the Capitol because he thought the Rotunda was open for tourists—on January 6th, Epps alleges, he was only trying to calm down the crowd and de-escalate the situation! This position is of course contrary to the text message he sent to his nephew stating, “I was in the front with a few others. I also orchestrated it.”

One of the most curious of Epps’ new bedfellows is the lawyer currently representing Epps in his defamation case against Fox. As we reported in an earlier piece, Epps lawyer is a man by the name of Michael Teter, a close associate and employee of the infamous and disgraced Democrat hatchet man David Brock.

Teter currently works for an organization called Facts First USA, a nakedly partisan organization targeting the agenda of the so-called “MAGA Majority” in Congress. The President of Facts First USA is none other than the disgraced Democrat/Clinton machine hatchet man David Brock. For those unfamiliar, Brock’s resume includes founding the Soros funded Media Matters, a so-called “watchdog” group that watches conservative media 24/7 and excerpts “gotcha” clips for political purposes. Brock’s current Superpac ran an 80 million dollar opposition research campaign for Biden, and the New York Times described Brock’s former group Correct the Record as “Hillary Clinton’s own personal media watch dog.” Brock is most notorious, however, for his infamous “Brock Memo,” a memo formally titled “Democracy Action: Strategic Plan for Action” that served as a blueprint for the Democrat and Deep State alliance to undermine, neutralize, and destroy Trump’s presidency from day one.

One of the key pillars of Brock’s legal strategy was the aggressive use of lawfare tactics to embroil Trump and his allies in continuous lawsuits and legal trouble. Brock sat on the board of CREW, the premiere lawfare outfit run by another man whose dirty deeds Revolver brought to national attention–a man by the name of Norm Eisen.

The lawfare component of the strategy was to be carried out by an organization called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which co-sponsored the Brock memo, and on whose board Brock served as chairman from 2014 to 2016. CREW was actually co-founded by none-other than Norm Eisen, former Obama ethics czar and notorious color revolution professional whom Revolver famously profiled years ago. In fact, Revolver covered the lawfare and color revolution-like components of the Brock Memo in this earlier piece.

As an underling of David Brock’s, Ray Epps’ new lawyer Michael Teter is every bit as embedded as Brock is within the nexus between the Clinton-Democrat Machine and the Deep State. Apart from Teter’s employment with Brock’s Facts First organization, Teter is the managing director of yet another Brock-project, the Democrat lawfare outfit known as The 65 Project. As it happens, former Trump Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark wrote an excellent guest piece for Revolver flagging Teter’s group.

We will address the (non-existent) legal merits of Epps and Teter’s defamation complaint against Fox News in a forthcoming exclusive piece. For now, it will suffice to point out a few things. First, it is important to note that neither Revolver News nor Tucker Carlson are listed as defendants in the suit—so far Epps has only sued Fox. In light of Fox’s inexplicably weak decision to settle a lawsuit with Dominion for nearly $1 billion, it is likely that Epps’ team views Fox as a soft and compliant target. That Epps’ legal team is riding the Dominion wave is clear from the complaint itself, which begins with the Dominion lawsuit and frames Tucker’s reporting on Epps as a way to cover up for Fox’s alleged culpability for the January 6 insurrection stemming from its alleged reporting on Dominions role in a stolen election. Epps’ legal team’s decision to sue Fox first may therefore reflect a confidence that Fox is likely to settle, and at the very least unlikely to fight back as likely Tucker and surely Revolver News would.

From Fox’s point of view, there might be an additional incentive to settle in this particular case. Indeed, a settlement here would help to reinforce Fox’s position that the recently fired Tucker Carlson was more of a liability than an asset. A Fox settlement would thus serve Fox’s interests and the Regime’s interests, insofar as after such a settlement regime-approved journalists could breathlessly state that Revolver News and Tucker’s coverage of Ray Epps has been discredited in court.

Nonetheless, it is altogether possible and indeed likely that after Fox settles the first lawsuit, Epps’ lawyers turn their sights toward Tucker and Revolver News. After all, Epps’ legal team is a team of political operatives fundamentally, and the prospect of inconveniencing Revolver News, which has done so much damage to Regime narratives over the past three years, is likely to be irresistible. Revolver News’ Darren Beattie is mentioned prominently in the defamation complaint as the chief purveyor of news on Ray Epps.

Apart from baseless legal threats and cheap, desperate insults, there was one little nugget in the legal complaint that amounts to something of a buried lede. According to the legal complaint, the Department of Justice notified Ray Epps in May of 2023 of its intention to charge him criminally in relation to January 6th!

Finally, in May 2023, the Department of Justice notified Epps that it would seek to charge him criminally for events on January 6, 2021 two-and-a-half years later. The relentless attacks by Fox and Mr. Carlson and the resulting political pressure likely resulted in the criminal charges. Although it is difficult to believe that the Department of Justice would have pursued this matter if Fox had not focused its lies on Epps, ultimately the criminal charges conclusively demonstrate the falsehood of the story that Mr. Carlson and Fox told about Epps.

There are a number of remarkable things about this. Does the fact that the DOJ would wait over two years to charge Epps make his situation or or less suspicious? Why would the DOJ wait for over two and a half years to charge someone who ended up on the FBI’s Most Wanted list less than a month after January 6, 2021? In fact, Epps was one of the first twenty people added to that list! Epps’ legal complaint then goes on to stipulate that if such an indictment does occur, that would refute any claims that Epps was working on behalf of the government. If anything, charges this late in the game would only increase suspicions.

It is quite possible that Trump will face a January 6 related charge, and the DOJ knows how bad it would look to charge Trump and leave such an egregious, conspicuous, and now infamous case such as Epps alone. From the DOJ’s point of view, such a charge would also have the function of undermining “conspiracy theories” regarding the nature of Epps’ participation in January 6. To any knowledgeable person a charge against Epps in this context would do nothing to quell such suspicions—indeed, in general terms, the federal government betrays people it had been protecting all the time.

Another bizarre thing is that the DOJ would extend Ray Epps the courtesy of notifying him of an imminent indictment at all. As Revolver has reported extensively, the typical treatment for a January 6 defendant is to have a SWAT team raid their house, kick down their door, have their electronics seized, the whole works. That the DOJ would simply notify Epps months ahead of his suspected indictment is unusual indeed. Is there any other example of such a courtesy being extended?

All of this talk is of course premature, as to our knowledge the DOJ has not yet indicted Epps and may never do so.

The FBI did not arrest him, they have him in protective custody. But to the public, it looks like they are “doing something”.

Inside Ray Epps Lawsuit Against Fox News, Plaintiff Contends DOJ Notified Him in May They Would “Seek to Charge Him Criminally”

Something is suspicious about this in the presentation, the timing and even the wording.

Ray Epps was a guy who attended the events in/around Washington DC on January 5th and January 6th, 2021.  There is a lot of video footage of Ray Epps instructing people to go to the Capitol building.  Despite a rather voluminous amount of evidence, Ray Epps was never charged with any conduct related to the events of January 6th.

According to a lawsuit Epps filed against Tucker Carlson and Fox News claiming the outlet targeted and defamed him, Ray Epps states,

“in May 2023, the Department of Justice notified Epps that it would seek to charge him criminally for events on January 6, 2021—two-and-a-half years later.”  [lawsuit citation – pg 41]

First, since when does the DOJ inform a suspect in advance they are seeking to charge him?  Second, timing.  It is now mid-July; where’s the indictment?  Third, the wording is suspicious – the DOJ would “seek to charge him criminally.”   Meaning, the Dept of Justice told Epps they were going to make efforts to arrest him?

Considering the lawsuit itself if dependent on a very specific narrative; and considering the lawsuit itself if dependent on a sympathy construct within that narrative; and considering the media narrative has been about wrongly targeted Epps by right-wing disinformation white nationalists, something is not passing the sniff test.
