A Democratic Georgia state legislator from Atlanta has defected to the Republican Party in astonishing move after her party turned on her for backing school vouchers wanting to get tougher on prosecutors.
Rep. Mesha Mainor, 48, switched sides to become the only black member of the state GOP after ripping into her former colleagues for trying to 'sabotage' everything she did and embracing 'left-wing radicalism'.
Mainor said legislative Democrats drove her out of the party for breaking what they think are party norms including being soft on crime.
At a Tuesday news conference outside the Georgia Capitol, she said they had 'relentlessly tried to sabotage every single thing that I have done for District 56' and 'publicly slandered me in every way imaginable.'
'I thought it was OK to not agree with those things as a Democrat. But they told me, You know what, those are values we just don´t have,´' Mainor said, flanked by state Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon.
'I didn’t leave the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party left ME when it embraced left-wing radicalism, lawlessness, and put the interests of illegal aliens over the interest of Americans. I have nothing to apologize for.'
Mainor, first elected in 2020, represents House District 56, an ultra-Democratic swath of Atlanta including its Midtown neighborhood and close-in parts of the city's west side. She had said earlier that she wouldn't switch parties. Tuesday, though, she urged other lifelong Democrats to reexamine the party's values.
'I am encouraging more black Americans and black Democrats in particular - you might have this coat on, but I suggest you look at the lining. See what's on the inside,' she said.

Always miserable. Why can’t you be happy? She especially wants school choice. Parents to choose where to send their kids including charter schools.
I hope she sticks around. She’s got a great handle on being a conservative AMERICAN.
Another liberal finally sees the light.
They will now demonize her and make her out to be all kinds of nasty things .
Is she leaving the Dem party because she doesn’t agree with their platform or because she agrees with the Republican platform? Maybe she is leaving because the Dem are not supporting her?
II have never, NEVER heard a democrat like her flip because she is upset with democrat policies. It is always because they aren’t commie enough. She will vote for all the policies the democrats support. This is a ruse, A fake. Guaranteed.
That's what she gets for leaving the Dem plantation. I bet this has only solidified her decision.

Haha nice. I’m loving this good lady. Is she single? She knows the rats are far disconnected from the interests of the people. She will inspire a lot of voters who are realizing the same thing and need to smash through the liberal brainwashing and clutches.
