Ron DeSantis positions himself as the next Ronald Reagan

'Voters are going to get behind us in ways that are probably bigger than we've seen in the last 20 or 25 years as Republicans.' Florida’s Governor is looking to a former California Governor as an antecedent for his current presidential run.

During an interview on Wisconsin’s Mark Belling Show, Ron DeSantis suggested his candidacy could be the modern version of the 1980 election that saw Ronald Reagan defeat Democrat Jimmy Carter.

“What I would just tell folks out there listening is Biden is kind of like Jimmy Carter. When Reagan came on the scene, the country lost confidence in Carter. They were willing to go in a different direction. I think we’re in the same place with Biden,” DeSantis contended.

“And I think if we offer a candidate like me who has a record of achievement and a positive vision, I think these voters are going to get behind us in ways that are probably bigger than we’ve seen in the last 20 or 25 years as Republicans...

No, it’s fine to talk primary but the very FOCUS should be the commie Dems.

You want him to be Trump like so you can accuse him of attacking poor innocent Trump with childish insults. Without noting the irony.

Ron can talk primary without being openly cruel. There is nothing wrong with that. They should talk about the issues, not how stupid and disloyal ad nauseum the other guy is. They can say they are better on XYZ, but not really get into duels about looks and personality.

I’ve seen and heard enough. Trump does well to an extent, but he has much to improve, not least of which is his demeanor. Frankly I don’t hang on speeches. Not interested. I prefer the highlights later.

And again, beware your personal remarks, per JimRs thread the other day.

Living in liberal land is not good for mental outlook and gives a very biased view of America. Remember there is group speech and fear of revealing views that are not lockstep with the community.
President Trump is very well loved in my NJ community and with every guy in the trades I meet. I have never seen such a groundswell of appreciation and trust as I have seen with Trump.
Many who have been Dems have reconsidered and a fans but don’t out themselves.

Absolutely. Reagan had much more to work against than Trump, e.g.

One could criticize Reagan for not being able to win the Representatives, but at least he had the Senate most of the time to work with. Then he lost the Senate, another negative.

Huh?

How is he tagging Trump as Carter?

Makes no sense in any aspect.

The congress is more local and after a quarter century of one-party rule it took a longer time to unclinch than Reagan’s 2 terms, but Gingrich got it done by 1994.

With 4 Senate elections, Reagan lost the last one, before Reagan the Dems had the House and Senate continuously since the early 1950s.

The point is we are in an echo chamber here. On FR you think everyone is open to your opinion so you have no problem spouting it.

You go to a rally and you feel good. It’s an echo chamber.

OTOH, I grew up and live in an echo chamber in the real every-day world, for liberals. They think they can spout off in real life in front of anyone around here without blowback. Occasionally they find they are wrong (happened to me today in fact), that not everyone thinks just as they do.

The point is you see how terribly America-hating people are if you live in such a place.

Now look at the stats and you see it - it’s 50/50 overall in this country and is civil war boiling point. I’ve seen that since 2000. And as another stated, Republicans have not won the popular vote since Bush 2 was carried by terrorist hooplah. Before that it was his dad first time on the coattails of Reagan. So beware. It is too close to be glib.

He pretends to bean America First supporter, but he is not. It's all about him & I've said this so many times already.

Trump again, is popular in scale with many people. But not most. He does not have scope. And he is almost completely hated by Dems, period. He alienates millions.

If I said untrue things about you 24/7, and the press claim that they verified all that I said, do you think you might become hated & reviled also?

The Democrats are supposed to hate him. The Republican also hate him. The Deep State & Intelligence Agencies hate him. The FBI & Doj hates him. Do you even know why?

It's because he is exposing them all for the crooks they are.

He will not win, even in a pure fair election.

So you admit that he did win the 2020 election, because you said he couldn't even win in a pure fair election.

So, that kind of negates your statement that he can't win a fair & free election. Because he did win, but it wasn't a fair & free election due to the theft of the 2020 election. It applies to the 2018 & 2022 elections also, & the Republican Party assisted in those thefts by turning a blind eye to them. Why would they do that you may ask. Because it does not matte who wins or loses, as long as, the Uni-party remains in control.

The truth is Trump got 11 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016.

There are plenty of blacks who support Trump. In fact the number of blacks who supported Trump are the highest percentage of Black support received by a Republican in decades.

He is no Reagan.

You are correct, but you are also missing the why as well.

Trump liked Reagan & Reagan liked Trump. There is evidence that supports that. But I'm getting tired & I have to finish getting ready for a health exam.

The nation was far less divided 40 + years ago. So, Reagan was able to defeat the Democrats with charm.

The country is far more divided now, & the government has been weaponized, and it now requires a fighter. Because this is not about R vs. D. More like good vs. evil.

There was no motivation for Trump to get involved in politics, other that his stated reason. He loves this nation & he loves the citizens. He is trying to save this nation & returned it to the people.

It's easy to be judgmental & to buy into the false narratives being pushed continuously about him. But the time has come for all good people to wake up to the scam & lies being used to hold onto power that also provides them with wealth. \

It's no baseless conspiracy theory, it's an actual conspiracy that's real & evil. Remain asleep & learn the hard way, or awaken now to defeat them. We out number them by vast numbers. We are also armed, which frightens them. That's why they have been trying very hard to disarm us for decades.

Watch this long video, 2 hours & 5 minutes to get a better understanding of what is happening in this nation. It's being run like a criminal enterprise by people who desire to usher in tyranny where they face no threats of being exposed. That is why he has been attacked like no other president ever has. This video was done by a former intelligence person. It should help you to understand, exactly what is really happening to our country. Then you will also better understand DeSantis & why he is a deceitful person.

Donald John Trump is a threat to these criminal people who have taken over our country. They attack Trump every which way, because they fear him. Because people are waking up from his efforts to expose them. Waking up is not easy. Had I not been told certain things myself over 20 years ago, which I dismissed at the time, but have been seeing come to fruition before my eyes. Has helped me to understand what it is I am seeing. Otherwise, I might be asleep myself, & dismissive of DJT also.

Link

What you are about to watch is what I was told those more than 20 years ago. I hope you awaken & take to heart what you are about to see because it's all real & if you apply it to what you see, it should make clear what you are seeing.

I want DeSantis to attack Trump with childish insults? That’s absurd. Where do you come up with such nonsense? What I want DeSantis to do is explain why he thinks he’d be a better nominee than Trump - or any of the other candidates for that matter, but Trump is the clear front runner by a huge margin.

He has to get the nomination first before he runs against Biden. That’s the whole purpose of primaries. They run against each other to see who gets to run against Biden. He has to make the case why he’s better than Trump, if he expects to win the nomination. And yet, oddly, he doesn’t want to talk about it. Maybe it’s because his policies are, by design, almost identical to Trump’s.

'Upon inquiries from the press, he meant Ron Reagan Jr.'

The resemblance is substantial.

You assume I hate Trump. I do not like him. So what? But many of the things I don’t like about him is what makes it easy for Dems to hate him.

I am speaking my honest view of Trump and how people - not just EverTrumpers - view him at large.

There are good traits about Trump and I have seen his better side. But he isn’t doing that all the time. He goes to extremes with nasty behavior.

And you all miss the point that saying we don’t like Trump doesn’t mean we won’t vote for him. As JimR said in his rule-demanding thread, I’ll vote for whomever has the R, because the D side is just unacceptable. I have never missed an election because someone “isnt good enough”. No one has been a Reagan but I keep trying. No Dems for me.

No, not at all.

Unfortunately that was a major failing of the Reagans.

Trump succeeded much better with his Ivanna children.

Well if that is truly your view, then fine.

But too often I’ve seen every Trump fan here rail against Ron when he simply states something that doesn’t praise Trump to high Heaven. They say he is insulting and attacking Trump, but I haven’t seen that. I have not seen Ron hurl off childish public remarks and insults as Trump does, but so many accuse him of it.

All of the candidates need to talk about why they are better on policies and other character issues if needed, not simply make up names about R candidates.

All of them.

“””Trump liked Reagan & Reagan liked Trump. “”””

That is absolutely false, they didn’t even know each other and Trump never liked or voted for Reagan, Trump supported Carter.

"I don’t know how many times I have to say this. Trump adoration at rallies does not equal overall love, or majority vote. It looks impressive but what if those 10000 are the ONLY people in that state who vote for him?"

I don't know how many times I have to say this: pure hogwash.

You sound exactly like Fatty Arbuckle, er, Krispy Kreme, who blew what amounted to a free campaign ad slot on “Fox News Sunday” just this Sunday, with the same wretched TDS, arguing over attendance at Trump's July 1 rally at Pickens, S.C.

And now Kreme is saying, "Trump should answer me on attendance! Mano y mano!"

The really, really sad part of Krispy's TDS is that filthy (c)rapper Enimen attempted the exact same pathetic attention-whore beggary during his lame retirement tour in 2017.

Eminem angry Trump ‘not paying attention to me’

"Rapper Eminem criticized President Trump again in a new interview published Tuesday, this time expressing his anger that Trump has yet to respond to an anti-Trump song the rapper performed at the 2017 BET awards.

In an interview with Shade 45, Eminem’s channel on Sirius XM radio, the rapper said that he “can’t stand” Trump and is furious that Trump has ignored the rapper’s viral video slamming the president and his supporters.

“I feel like he’s not paying attention to me,” the Detroit rapper said Tuesday. “I was kind of waiting for him to say something and for some reason, he didn’t say anything.”

That would be hilariously schadenfreudic if it just weren't so sad when perfectly aligned with Krispy Kreme and you. "Trump doesn't have the crowds he says he does glurk glurk glurk glurk glurk..."

No one, no conservative, has drawn the consistent, diverse, where-is-the-fire-marshal crowds since the Tea Party Tax Day protests in 2009. So next year, you take your ballot, and fold it eight ways, and cram it.

You and Krispy are petty, and it's because you live insular lives where neither of you permit anyone to call you out, secure in your own confirmation bias.

And not one word, not one syllable, not one letter, of what I have just said conflicts with JimRob's recent edict on name-calling, so don't even try that with me. You found it necessary to post to me in this thread, and I had ignored you until then.
