A 14-year-old girl who’d gone missing after running away from home last month was found inside the barracks of Marine Corp Camp Pendleton, according to authorities.
An officer of the U.S. Marine Corps was taken into custody in San Diego in connection with allegations of sex trafficking involving the minor.
The girl, who has learning disabilities, ran away from home on June 9. Her grandmother reported her missing to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department a few days later.
“The grandmother reported to deputies that the teen had previously run away before, but always returned home quickly,” Melissa Aquino, SDSO’s media relations officer said.
Captain Chuck Palmer of Camp Pendleton-based 1st Marine Logistics Group confirmed a Marine, who has not yet been identified, had been taken into custody for questioning by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).

She is 14 years old and has learning disabilities for God’s sake. Sticking up for this Marine is repulsive. He has done wrong. A good man would have had that girl sent home. She is a kid.

My thoughts exactly, a gross misrepresentation. (Retired Army Field Grade Officer)

I was Army ADA stationed on Hahn AB from 77-79. I used that as a tool to motivate my underperforming soldiers: you can do your job and continue having omelets made to order, OR you can stay on your current path. and I’ll ship you to our sister battalion in Mannheim. They spend 8 months out of the year training in the red mud in Grafenwoehr.
It only took one every six months to deliver the message.

What’s a soldier doing on a marine corp base?
To: DesertRhino
It’s not an Air Base if there isn’t a soft serve ice cream machine.

No way a USMC officer is the kidnapper. Moron reporter likely has her facts wrong. But a 20-year-old Lance Corporal, on the other hand...

Point is Officers do live in what a civilian would call a Barracks. Drove by the “BOQ” the other day. Sign still said BOQ, but they are being rebuilt and due to be changed to Temporary Officers Quarters from my understanding. Point still being Officers do live in a barracks of sorts.

I have also lived in everything from squad bays to the BOQ. My civilian rank entitled me to stay at the Q while TDY. Depending on the Marine base a “Q” is still a barracks. The ones I have stayed in varied from single rooms with a shared toilet while others were on par with a La Quinta Inn. One thing about the SNCO Quarters and the BOQ that differs from a BEQ, they allowed me to have a female in the room. I was never questioned about the woman (my wife) with me in the room. As an aside, the worst “Q” I ever stayed in was at an Air Force base, that surprised me. I expected much better quarters on an Air Force base.
