The boycott in response to Bud Light's outreach to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney has had notable staying power.
Why it matters: The ferocity of this particular boycott — which has entered its third month of headlines — is due in large part to the brand's misalignment with key consumers, easily accessible competitors and the poor corporate response.

Mostly, I think this boycott has staying power due to the abundant replacements available in every market.
Having worked for Miller Brewing Company for about five years, I know the public interest in beer is an ebb and flow type scenario. As the microbreweries exploded in the early 2000s, most large beer companies saw a direct impact on their sales. Several companies upped their advertising and tried different approaches. Miller decided to become a large-scale brewer and distributor for many of the “very popular” microbrews throughout the US.
Most people may say they are going to boycott Walmart, but due to its footprint in America, it would be almost impossible to completely do so. So, in time people return to their habits and patterns and they wind up back at the self-checkout at their local Walmart.
The bottom line is very simple: there are too many readily available, acceptable replacements for Bud Light - PERIOD!
The product's reputation is ruined.
Personally I can never order a Bud Light in a bar again, or even buy in it a store, lest people think I am in support of the transgender/homosexual agenda.
I know I shouldn't care about what other people think of me. But I don't care enough about Bud Light to invite that kind of critique.
If it was a brand of beer that I really liked that made a PR stumble like this, I might still order it at the bar and tell my critics to shove off but Bud Light does not inspire that kind of loyalty in me. It is no better or worse than the half dozen or so other brands out there making a watered down, tasteless brew.
when can we expect the 2q results?
cuz i think they have been downplaying the loss in sales
Once the habit is broken, it is gone.
Miller Lite has a taste of clover to it. And is generally better tasting.
