Ben & Jerry’s parent company has lost roughly $2.5 billion in market cap amid calls to boycott the Vermont-based ice cream maker over a July 4 tweet condemning the US for existing on “stolen Indigenous land.”
Shares of Unilever, the Anglo-Dutch multinational firm, slid as much as 1% at Thursday’s opening bell after closing down .5% the previous day.
The company’s stock price has fallen to roughly $51 after closing at $52.28 during Monday’s shortened trading — and the day before Ben & Jerry’s posted its unpatriotic tweet.
The result has seen its market cap drop to $131 billion from the roughly $133.5 billion on Monday.
Ben & Jerry’s, which was acquired by Unilever but whose board remains independent in voicing its views on political issues, said the July 4 celebrations can “distract from an essential truth about this nation’s birth.”

I say the same thing:
Need a list of Unilever products. Funny, my immediate thought is Ben & Jerry’s = Soap.
Let’s just keep reminding the left that Ben & Jerry’s is destroying their precious environment with all those cow’s methane emissions, all to produce a frivolous non-necessary luxury good for the entitled 1%.
Maybe they’ll boycott too :D
Keep it up aholes. Country is serious about this “woke” BS
I am way ahead of the curve.
I have been boycotting B&J for over a decade.
America haters just can’t help themselves.
The current CEO may have overplayed his hand. There are many other brands of good quality ice cream to consider.
The market is down across the board, so it would be hard to determine how much of Unilever’s decline is due to a boycott.
“The Anglo-Dutch multinational firm, slid as much as 1% at Thursday’s opening bell”
This is a dumb article - the whole market is down over 1%, so gloating over Unilever being down 1% is self-deludion.
Not that I’m against bankrupting uber-woke Ben&Jerry.
Thanks for the link. Been boycotting B & J for years now to add a few more product lines.
Self-delusion...
Every country in the world has a population that has changed over time. Sometimes this has happened fairly suddenly, sometimes it happens over a period of time, years, decades, or hundreds of years. In nearly all cases someone is unhappy about how it happened.
It’s a small thing...but it’s not a “loss” of 2.5 Billion Dollars. It’s the decline in their Market Cap on a day when the market is down a good bit. There is no recognized “loss”.
Anyone want to join a group to buy troubled assets of woke companies from European conglomerates? We buy, then announce non-woke, American owners!
It’s only a loss when you sell on it
Trashing the country on its national holiday which is also their main market seems par for the course for leftists. They are very emboldened these days.
