Did you read his comment, tho? Here's the statement from his Twitter in its entirety:

I’m an unapologetic American nationalist & my top objective as U.S. President is to revive civic pride in America.

Earlier today on @ThisWeekABC , I said that as U.S. President I would not implement a categorical ban on trans people in the military (though I do support a *limited* ban for combat roles where the risk is too high). This upset some supporters & invited criticism from opponents. Here’s my view:

The reason we see the rise of secular cults in America - including transgenderism - is that we suffer a deeper void of purpose & meaning. I want to fill that void with a vision of what it means to be American. That’s why I favor ambitious plans to revive civic pride, including a constitutional amendment to make military service or passing a civics test a requirement to vote at age 18.

I’ve also been clear about my position on the trans cult in America: transgenderism is most often a mental health disorder & should be treated accordingly. We live in a free country & that means you’re free to act how you want as an *adult*, but you can’t foist your views onto everyone else. Leave our kids alone, don’t try to change our language, our bathrooms, our sports. Don’t mandate special “trainings” in our workplace, our schools, our military. “You be you,” but don’t force everyone else to bend the knee to your confused belief system.

The Left attacks me for this as “transphobic” and for violating “trans rights.” They’re wrong about that, and I defeat them in debate about it every time.

But I also believe in consistency. If someone wants to serve our country, they should be able to serve so long as they don’t create risk or undue cost for other Americans. The risk of letting someone with a mental health problem serve in combat roles is too high, but for most roles in the military (administrative, support, legal, etc.), I don’t think a categorical ban makes sense. If a trans adult can’t serve as a JAG attorney, why should they be able to serve as a public prosecutor, defense attorney, local cop, fireman, doctor, or nurse either?

To the contrary: reviving our culture of national service can help address our mental health epidemic. I embrace national service as a precondition for voting, so it’d be totally inconsistent for me to ban an aspiring citizen who wants to serve his country from being able to do so in a non-combat role.

I’ve said since day 1 that I would rather speak truth (about this, about civic duty, about Ukraine, about corruption) & lose the election than to play a game of political pandering to win. I believe this will ultimately be the winning strategy, but that’s not for me to decide.

That’s it! Stop being just a “virtual citizen” by scanning Facebook or Twitter on your cell phone. Get involved in FIXING your LOCAL community and rebuilding this GREAT NATION!

Vivek is definitely onto the right message...

Thank you for the info. I like this guy, but he’s a Hindu, and that bothers me.
