Ukraine said on Sunday that Russian troops were advancing in four areas in the east of the country amid "fierce fighting" but reported its forces moving forward in the south.
Deputy Defence Minister Ganna Maliar said that Russian troops were advancing near Avdiivka, Mariinka, Lyman and Svatove.
"Fierce fighting is going on everywhere," Maliar wrote on social media, adding: "The situation is quite complicated".

I am suggesting that anything either party announces should be suspect and taken with a trailer load of salt until confirmed by outside uninvolved sources.
One scenario that comes immediately to mind - Ukraine has been begging for more money and more weapons. What better way to put some urgency behind their request and get people to give in than to ‘suddenly’ start racking up losses?
Not saying that’s the case, but you can see how that would work.
It’s got nothing to do at all with the United States Marine Corp.

I have the only facts.
1) This is the first war in the history of mankind in which both sides have excellent satellite recon, with Russia’s turnaround time faster because the vehicles’ line of sight is into Russia’s photo interpretation centers, vs the US needing to get the pictures to the NRO in the US. It’s a difference, but not a huge one.
2) This means there are no surprises. No one can mass troops and not be seen doing it.
3) Mines define the calendar.
That’s it. That’s all anyone knows. Everything else is people chasing viewcounts.

All eyes on the upcoming NATO summit 11 July. Word is Ukraine was given orders to show some gains during their offensive , however their grand “ offensive “ has failed by all accounts.
So, what next? Me thinks NATO does something really, really stupid and intervenes…or they finally realize the Ukies are toast.

Right now they have their cake, and are eating it too.
Ukraine is taking all the death and destruction, and chewing down Russia. Direct intervention will spread the destruction around and lift it up several notches.

As an anecdote, they seem to love plundering shops for NIKE basket shoes.

It’s the first war in human history where everyone knows everything about everyone on both sides. Nothing can be hidden. Surprise attacks are simply put, impossible. Unless... satellite blinding procedures are being used... Those kinds of high-tech weapons are kept secret and unused for now though... while waiting for a hypothetical WW3. We are not there yet.
Well, someone is really stupid, the Ukies suffered again massive losses along the southern fronts. Much footage of Ivan towing away abandoned Ukie ( US) equipment, another “ Bradley Square” event, wonder if all these trophies end up in the Moscow military museum?
