Team DeSantis celebrates the end of Pride Month with zinger aimed at Trump
American Wire News ^ | July 1, 2033 | Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign team released a wild culture war ad on Friday taking aim at former President Trump as Pride Month ends, using clips from “American Psycho” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” to hammer home the Florida firebrand’s leadership on issues.

“To wrap up ‘Pride Month,’ let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it…” the DeSantis War Room tweeted with a compilation of clips showing Trump’s ties to the LGBTQ and transgender community.

The video begins with a 2016 clip of Trump telling the Republican National Convention, “I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens,” utilizing a rainbow pride flag superimposed over his image. It then showcases a number of clips of Trump with transgender Caitlyn Jenner, who is also a Republican. Then a graphic shows DeSantis with lightning bolts shooting out of his eyes next to the word “NO.”

Ads by The ad is sure to offend Trump supporters and it enraged leftist media outlets as well such as Mediaite which branded it as “bizarre” and “unhinged.” But the ad will no doubt appeal to certain demographics which was the point. It is also intended to show that DeSantis will protect children no matter what and that he stands strongly against elements of the transgender movement.

The ad touts the headline, “DeSantis Signs ‘Most Extreme Slate of Anti-Trans Laws in Modern History,’” as energetic music plays in the background and images of DeSantis stream.

According to Mediate, the ad also uses clips of necrophiliac-serial killer-rapist Patrick Bateman from “American Psycho,” British gangster Tommy Shelby from “Peaky Blinders,” and convicted fraudster Jordan Belfort from “Wolf of Wall Street” in what appears to make the point that DeSantis will fight evil.

A stylized graphic toward the end of the ad shows DeSantis depicted as an alligator with reptile eyes and spiky teeth, again in an effort to show his strength. Images of Spartans are also interspersed in the ad and, finally in another play off of “Wolf of Wall Street,” the ad declares that a real wolf has finally arrived.

Trump supporters and leftists viciously attacked the ad online.

A conservative Florida LGBTQ group called the Log Cabin Republicans took issue with the ad.

“Today’s message from the DeSantis campaign War Room is divisive and desperate. Republicans and other commonsense conservatives know Ron Desantis has alienated swing-state and younger voters,” the group wrote on Friday.

“Conservatives understand that we need to protect our kids, preserve women’s sports, safeguard women’s spaces and strengthen parental rights, but Ron DeSantis’ extreme rhetoric goes has just ventured into homophobic territory.”

“Desantis’ rhetoric will lose hard-fought gains in critical races across the nation. This old playbook has been tried in the past and has failed – repeatedly,” the group proclaimed. “Left-wing gays have tried to hijack the equality movement by pushing their radical sex and gender policies on children while slandering anyone who disagrees with them.”

“Ron DeSantis and his team can’t tell the difference between commonsense gays and the radical Left gays. He, sadly, sees them all the same. His naive policy positions are dangerous and politically stupid,” they charged.

Charles T. Moran, the national president of Log Cabin Republicans, also condemned DeSantis in his own post.

“You could have gone after radical queers, @RonDeSantis – but instead you went after the ones who win the @GOP votes and get Republicans elected. People like me,” he wrote. “Wrong fight to pick, bud.”

I think him not waiting was one of the biggest political mistakes in recent memory. He was riding high the base loved him, he had a near lock on 28. He could have just continued doing a great job in FLA and been even stronger. Instead he looks like the Titanic.

“I told you that you didn’t know what was going on.

Those are facts. You really didn’t know?”

If you knew what was going on you would leave California for Florida.

I’m warning you as a guy that had a Conservative states and
it changed into California.

Either Trump or DeSantis has to hold power to protect Florida
from drifting.

If they run on the same ticket and lose, Florida is wide
open for Leftist chicanery.

Let Ron stay where he is. When Trump leaves, Ron can
run for the top spot and see what happens. For the
next two plus years, Florida would have help from the
top.

Yep. Reagan should have never deserted California.

I was born here and I’ll die here.

Take a look at how the Republican leadership outed themselves
when Judge Roy Moore ran for the U. S. Senate. We could have
another Conservative there right now, if it weren’t for them.

Look, we can’t advocate every Conservative in the nation
move to Florida. That’s not going to serve the nation well,
as other states need some level headed people there.

I may move out of state at some point. It is getting
dicier by the day.

A swap of several electoral votes would be nice!

This is another issue you aren’t up to speed on.

I’ve talked to old time Republican Party leaders from
California. They would bust their ass to get decent
Conservatives in the leadership at the top, and the
national leadership would swoop in and shake up the
leadership replacing the Conservatives at the top.

What could Reagan have done to stop that?

We were sold out here as much as 40+ years ago.

They did nothing at all to help our last gubernatorial
candidate in the early 2000s. And that is not
exaggeration. He didn’t lose by a real landslide
either. Help could very easily have made him quite
competitive. They just didn’t want a Conservative
in charge.

There’s no love lost between me and the party, and I’ve
been a member for 54+ years now.

I have had some good FReeper friends in Florida, but I’m not
interested in moving to a place that is overly humid and hot.

Florida is doing just fine without me. Other states could
use their electoral vote bolstered also.

President Trump had a rally today. It is reported that 75,000 plus Americans showed up in the heat and humidity.
My governor, The Backstabber, couldn’t get 75 people to show up in an air-conditioned room.
You Never-Trumper Trolls are simply pathetic. President Trump will be the runaway winner of this primary and everyone, including the pathetic losers in the field supposedly running against the man knows this.

“ No one is special, but everyone deserves the same Constitutional rights.”

So you are in favor of Christian bakery shop owners being forced to bake cakes for homosexual “weddings”?

Are you in favor of perverted drag Queen shoes in our schools?

Etc, etc

Trump promises to end election fraud if elected. Why didn’t he his first term?

The desantis supporter who frequently lies with almost every post, claiming a report about something team desantis put out is a false?

This would seem to indicate it’s true, then, that team desantis did put it out.
