Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign team released a wild culture war ad on Friday taking aim at former President Trump as Pride Month ends, using clips from “American Psycho” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” to hammer home the Florida firebrand’s leadership on issues.
“To wrap up ‘Pride Month,’ let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it…” the DeSantis War Room tweeted with a compilation of clips showing Trump’s ties to the LGBTQ and transgender community.
The video begins with a 2016 clip of Trump telling the Republican National Convention, “I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens,” utilizing a rainbow pride flag superimposed over his image. It then showcases a number of clips of Trump with transgender Caitlyn Jenner, who is also a Republican. Then a graphic shows DeSantis with lightning bolts shooting out of his eyes next to the word “NO.”
Ads by The ad is sure to offend Trump supporters and it enraged leftist media outlets as well such as Mediaite which branded it as “bizarre” and “unhinged.” But the ad will no doubt appeal to certain demographics which was the point. It is also intended to show that DeSantis will protect children no matter what and that he stands strongly against elements of the transgender movement.
The ad touts the headline, “DeSantis Signs ‘Most Extreme Slate of Anti-Trans Laws in Modern History,’” as energetic music plays in the background and images of DeSantis stream.
According to Mediate, the ad also uses clips of necrophiliac-serial killer-rapist Patrick Bateman from “American Psycho,” British gangster Tommy Shelby from “Peaky Blinders,” and convicted fraudster Jordan Belfort from “Wolf of Wall Street” in what appears to make the point that DeSantis will fight evil.
A stylized graphic toward the end of the ad shows DeSantis depicted as an alligator with reptile eyes and spiky teeth, again in an effort to show his strength. Images of Spartans are also interspersed in the ad and, finally in another play off of “Wolf of Wall Street,” the ad declares that a real wolf has finally arrived.
Trump supporters and leftists viciously attacked the ad online.
A conservative Florida LGBTQ group called the Log Cabin Republicans took issue with the ad.
“Today’s message from the DeSantis campaign War Room is divisive and desperate. Republicans and other commonsense conservatives know Ron Desantis has alienated swing-state and younger voters,” the group wrote on Friday.
“Conservatives understand that we need to protect our kids, preserve women’s sports, safeguard women’s spaces and strengthen parental rights, but Ron DeSantis’ extreme rhetoric goes has just ventured into homophobic territory.”
“Desantis’ rhetoric will lose hard-fought gains in critical races across the nation. This old playbook has been tried in the past and has failed – repeatedly,” the group proclaimed. “Left-wing gays have tried to hijack the equality movement by pushing their radical sex and gender policies on children while slandering anyone who disagrees with them.”
“Ron DeSantis and his team can’t tell the difference between commonsense gays and the radical Left gays. He, sadly, sees them all the same. His naive policy positions are dangerous and politically stupid,” they charged.
Charles T. Moran, the national president of Log Cabin Republicans, also condemned DeSantis in his own post.
“You could have gone after radical queers, @RonDeSantis – but instead you went after the ones who win the @GOP votes and get Republicans elected. People like me,” he wrote. “Wrong fight to pick, bud.”
Not entirely, but mostly, irrelevant. Virtually no one showing up at a candidates' rallies is undecided. Meanwhile, Biden's campaign ran circles around Trump's campaign the entire time, crushing and overwhelming him on the airwaves reaching many millions of voters more than Trump, seeing a Biden completely different from the real one, but with zero counter message on some networks entirely, it became the prevailing view. Trump's supporters sat on their behinds and kept their wallets closed in 2018, 2020, and again in 2022. This is the laziest and most disengaged the GOP base has been since Trump became the standard bearer, and not amount of people hurling insults at those who point out this reality changes the fact it is reality. If isn't a party, parade, etc. they aren't there. They left Trump's endorsed candidates - and Trump himself - twisting in the wind with no support and no funding leaving them to be crushed by the Democrats (whose base has no problem forking over mountains of cash to each candidate from small donations) and begging McConnell and GOP establishment PACs to come to their rescue (but those are only supplemental support, not supposed to be the main source of the campaign war chest).
ron will be exposed as the controlled opposition he is, what a meatball.
It’s normal for the 1st midterm (e.g., 2018) to switch parties. If you believe the overnight battleground losses in 2020 were legitimate, then we’re at an impasse.
Did the RNC and GOPe go out of their way to support Trump’s
picks?
LOL, you guys are displaying your grasp of things, and it
isn’t serving you well.
If someone knows differently and can show concretely that this is a Desantis web, please share.
You’ve screwed up royalty Ron. Your chance was 2028 when completing your term as VP.
“Did the RNC and GOPe go out of their way to support Trump’s
picks?”
I Don’t think they supported Stacey Adams.
[To much rich, anti-Trump, Globalist donor money thrown at him.
He probably thought if he said no now, the money not be available for 28.
And if loses it won’t be available then either.]
Interesting plan of attack but I think he’s misreading the room and further burning his chances of getting the general election even if he does get the nomination.
But I suspect that’s got the uniparty script is going.
No, the lbgt agenda NEEDS to be opposed 100 percent, they broke the seal when they went for grooming.
“Team DeSantis celebrates the end of Child Molester Month”
Great point.
Hear we are the number 1 nation as far as pedophilia is concerned.
Gonna go see Caviezal’s movie on child sex slavery (now P.C. named human trafficking. How nice./s) on Sunday.

Well. Now you know him. Why would you vote for him in 2028?
I guess because he’s a Republican, Conservatives, Evangelical etc….😂 Duh.
Nonsense. DeSantis is saying, “I thank God im not a sinner like him”. T
Trump destroyed Biden in 2020.
The Rats continued to stuff the ballot boxes in the key battle ground states long into the following day. Biden won the Wednesday after election day.
But Trump is moving right on the Culture War.
👍
Don’t hold your breath.
No, he is going after there agenda. Live and let live got us groming.
Faggots: “We’re here, we’re queer, and we’re coming for your children”.
“But Trump is moving right on the Culture War.”
Being pulled by DeSantis. If Trump wins expect more spending, amnesty and gun restrictions.
