Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign team released a wild culture war ad on Friday taking aim at former President Trump as Pride Month ends, using clips from “American Psycho” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” to hammer home the Florida firebrand’s leadership on issues.
“To wrap up ‘Pride Month,’ let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it…” the DeSantis War Room tweeted with a compilation of clips showing Trump’s ties to the LGBTQ and transgender community.
The video begins with a 2016 clip of Trump telling the Republican National Convention, “I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens,” utilizing a rainbow pride flag superimposed over his image. It then showcases a number of clips of Trump with transgender Caitlyn Jenner, who is also a Republican. Then a graphic shows DeSantis with lightning bolts shooting out of his eyes next to the word “NO.”
Ads by The ad is sure to offend Trump supporters and it enraged leftist media outlets as well such as Mediaite which branded it as “bizarre” and “unhinged.” But the ad will no doubt appeal to certain demographics which was the point. It is also intended to show that DeSantis will protect children no matter what and that he stands strongly against elements of the transgender movement.
The ad touts the headline, “DeSantis Signs ‘Most Extreme Slate of Anti-Trans Laws in Modern History,’” as energetic music plays in the background and images of DeSantis stream.
According to Mediate, the ad also uses clips of necrophiliac-serial killer-rapist Patrick Bateman from “American Psycho,” British gangster Tommy Shelby from “Peaky Blinders,” and convicted fraudster Jordan Belfort from “Wolf of Wall Street” in what appears to make the point that DeSantis will fight evil.
A stylized graphic toward the end of the ad shows DeSantis depicted as an alligator with reptile eyes and spiky teeth, again in an effort to show his strength. Images of Spartans are also interspersed in the ad and, finally in another play off of “Wolf of Wall Street,” the ad declares that a real wolf has finally arrived.
Trump supporters and leftists viciously attacked the ad online.
A conservative Florida LGBTQ group called the Log Cabin Republicans took issue with the ad.
“Today’s message from the DeSantis campaign War Room is divisive and desperate. Republicans and other commonsense conservatives know Ron Desantis has alienated swing-state and younger voters,” the group wrote on Friday.
“Conservatives understand that we need to protect our kids, preserve women’s sports, safeguard women’s spaces and strengthen parental rights, but Ron DeSantis’ extreme rhetoric goes has just ventured into homophobic territory.”
“Desantis’ rhetoric will lose hard-fought gains in critical races across the nation. This old playbook has been tried in the past and has failed – repeatedly,” the group proclaimed. “Left-wing gays have tried to hijack the equality movement by pushing their radical sex and gender policies on children while slandering anyone who disagrees with them.”
“Ron DeSantis and his team can’t tell the difference between commonsense gays and the radical Left gays. He, sadly, sees them all the same. His naive policy positions are dangerous and politically stupid,” they charged.
Charles T. Moran, the national president of Log Cabin Republicans, also condemned DeSantis in his own post.
“You could have gone after radical queers, @RonDeSantis – but instead you went after the ones who win the @GOP votes and get Republicans elected. People like me,” he wrote. “Wrong fight to pick, bud.”
Who cares? DeSantis is irrelevant.
The UniParty supports the f@g stuff even more than Trump.
They are forcing DeSwampis into this kamikaze attack against Trump because they realize DeSwamp has already lost, and they want him to damage Trump as much as he can.
DeSwamp is done (except maybe for a third party run).
Next up, Youngkin.
“The desantis supporter who frequently lies with almost every post, claiming a report about something team desantis put out is a false?”
It was an honest question.
What is it with you guys with only insults and slanders.
Do you think the Republican leadership helped? LOL
Look, at that time he was very popular. As soon as he
declared I new he was a shoe-in.
His challenger was a Hispanic separatist. We had a
real choice in those days, NOT!
The Legislature has been a lock for something like 80 years.
This video is not from the DeSantis campaign. In never claims to be. Watch to the end and you’ll see who was by, “Proud Elephant” which appears to be linked to somebody named Ray Rocha. I have tried to trace this further, unsuccessfully so far. If you want to see Ron DeSantis videos go to his campaign website.
Only on problem, the crowd booed Linda off the stage, and Trump said, “ We need him to get Liberal votes.” Trump’s crowd wan’t having it.
This is not a good way to go after Trump.
Yeah - we’re not happy with the trans community going after our kids... and the groomers must be stopped. And definitely NO SEX Education by weirdos in our schools... or porn in our kid’s libraries.
Those are the things we agree on. But going after Trump for talking to Caitlyn Jenner? That’s a bridge too far. Until the weirdo community turned into bullies going after our children most of us were a ‘live and let live’ bunch.
DeSantis needs to attack Biden... not Trump.
U are nuts.
True. But, it won’t change a thing. President Trump is savvy enough to recognize there are certain RINO’s with long-standing clout he needs to keep close.
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t recognize them for what they are. Just mean’s he’s savvy enough to know not to alienate them.
“Rallies are expensive wastes of money and more of an exercise in ego-stroking than anything else.”

Truer words have never been spoken on FR!
Rallies give the base a quick pep rally fix and the large crowds give them over-confidence, which makes it easy to fall into complacency and not get actively engaged at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile the Dims are being super energized by scenes from the rallies.
Figured you’d pick Trump over Democrats given your RINO leanings.
Fox is already preparing the ground.

Why wouldn’t Trump have a prominent member of his SC campaign leadership team on the stage with him in SC today?
Where did that get him his 1st Term? No, I want the Trump I have been hearing for the last 2 weeks.
“Where did that get him his 1st Term? No, I want the Trump I have been hearing for the last 2 weeks.”
LOL. If you think that the saying keep your friends close but, your enemies closer is an irrelevant axiom, you are sorely uninformed.
This axiom has stood the test of time because it is wise. Alienating people of long-standing power who are purportedly on your side, and vote for many of your issues, even though you disagree on certain other issues is never wise. Ever. Savvy people recognize this and take advantage of it. Politics is NEVER ALL or NOTHING. EVER. Politics is ALL about the possible. Not the idealistic.

Besides Trump, who do you approve of?
Completely non responsive to both the post you are replying to and the post I sent directly to you earlier.
The Biden campaign absolutely crushed Trump’s campaign. Not even close. Trump’s campaign was lackluster by comparison and in many outlets didn’t even show up to counter Biden’s messaging. Biden’s campaign team was in completely control of that campaign from start to finish - one of the best ever run, while Trump’s campaign did virtually nothing by comparison.
Stuffed ballot boxes, etc. has nothing to do with this reality.
Now, please tell us what “constitutional rights” DeSantis is wanting to take away to justify your above attacks.
I was very proud to have you as Florida’s Gov. Now I regret any vote I placed for you. You will NEVER get another vote from me. Shame on you, for the way you are acting.
