“They say it’s the only way to make up a shortfall between operating costs and revenues.”

Way #2: get rid of excess administrative positions (in some universities - particularly the Ivies - the number of people employed in the support staff is greater than the number of students enrolled).

Way #3: eliminate useless curricular programs, like ‘victim studies’ majors.

More tuition gouging by the libtard turd roller “perfesers”. Congress needs to get off its ass and start an investigation of these greedy bastards just like they would any other price gouging businesses.

They must have flushed a pile of investments in ESG . Students at a University here demanded the university stop investing in oil and they had their tuition increased because of you guessed it less money from investments .LOL

“...Congress needs to get off its ass and start an investigation...”

They really can’t. They are part of the problem. The federal government has been using donated (?) funds to learning institutions for years to control them and their curriculum. And the people don’t even know how much of their taxpayer money is being used. They’d have to fall on their own sword.

Tuition increases make no difference because students use Fed funny-money to pay their tuition. And ... overseas study, books, room, board, dope, iPhones and Tide Pods.

They got all over Reagan in the late 60s/70s when as governor he had to jiggle around a ton of fees and charges because the legislature wouldn’t allow tuition charges.

True. Maybe a little exaggerated.

At my former U., when I came in we had 1 dean for College of Arts and Sciences, 1 provost for the U. By the time I left, we had 3 provosts and some assistants; 5 deans and some assistants.

My semester fees at Long Beach State from 1972-76 was $90 (unlimited number of classes) and $15 for parking.

Huge increases in tuition ended football programs for most of the Cal State Universities.

It will be very healthy for universities to go through stresses and struggles.

There are more college administrators than teachers, a lot of 6 figure salaries for equity and inclusion, and with benefits you are at a million with a handful of people. This is why tuition is ridiculous, they force you to pay for your own indoctrination. Don’t need one of them.

Kids don’t want to go to school that teaches useless propaganda. People are leaving California. Public schools are overbloated obese havens for very many useless loser type professors.
Hopefully their institutions go into a financial death spiral.
