WASHINGTON — A Trump supporter who stormed the Capitol wearing a “Make Space Great Again” hat had two guns and 400 rounds of ammunition in his van when he was arrested Thursday near former President Barack Obama’s home, federal authorities said Friday.
A federal prosecutor said in court Friday that Taylor Taranto, a 37-year-old man first identified by online sleuths in August 2021, also had a machete in the van he appeared to be living in. Taranto's van has been parked near the D.C. jail in recent weeks and he has appeared at protests in support of other Jan. 6 defendants, videos on social media show. Noting that he lived in the van, a federal prosecutor said Taranto had “nowhere to go.”
Taranto currently faces four misdemeanor counts in connection with Jan. 6, the federal prosecutor said.
The prosecutor said that Taranto has been in Washington to take House Speaker Kevin McCarthy up on his offer of letting Jan. 6 defendants review security footage of the Capitol riot relevant to their cases. Taranto had posted recordings of phone calls he made trying to get access to the footage to his social media.
Taranto has acknowledged entering the Capitol on Jan. 6 in social media posts and questioned why authorities had not arrested him. His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Taranto showed up at Obama's residence on Thursday after former President Donald Trump posted screenshots on his Truth Social platform that featured a purported address for Obama's home in Washington. Taranto's account reposted Trump's post.
"We got these losers surrounded!" Taranto wrote on Telegram yesterday. "See you in hell, Podesta's and Obama's!"
Taranto will be held in custody at least until a detention hearing on Wednesday. Federal Magistrate Judge G. Michael Harvey said Friday he had "some concern" about Taranto's mental stability.
Taranto was identified by members of the Sedition Hunters community after a facial recognition search turned up photos of him posing with a cardboard cutout of Trump at county GOP events in his home state of Washington.
Second time today that phrase has turned up in an article... the other article was about the BLM/Antifa cameraguy Sullivan that CNN and MSNBC hired to egg on the protesters on Jan 6 and who got the footage of Ashli Babbitt’s murder. Sullivan is supposedly over in Ukraine now promoting Putin talking points online.
Obama had to live close enough to Biden to keep his hand up Biden’s backside so he can wiggle Biden’s arms.
400 rounds... reminds me, what was the number of rounds Polk County cops used to take down a violent hostage-taking meth head this week?
One of the authors, Reilly, was formerly a writer for the Huffington Puffington Post. Probably moonlights as a Black Bloc dude.
good point- and id like to know why he was pulled over if he hadn’t done anything wrong, then arrested simply for havign guns and ammo if he was ‘allowed’ to have them?
Ryan J Reilly, formerly of the Huffington Post, was arrested in Ferguson Missouri... and is also formerly a writer for Main Justice.
Also, reportedly he cannot tell the difference between ear plugs and rubber bullets.
“Hm. Guns and ammo? Is that illegal?”
It is D.C. Why would you ask!
This particular writer has a habit of just making crap up.
They say “near Obama” seemigly wanting the reader to infer hd was targeting Obama...but further down mentil he was in DC to look at video of j6.
From PJ Media ...not Reilly is connected to Mary Jacoby, a very familiar name :
“...Among his (Reilly’s) scalps was a false report at TPM Muckraker that the election integrity organization True the Vote was under federal investigation for voter intimidation by the Justice Department, a claim which proved to be false, and a claim TPM refused to retract.
But Reilly has also published false information about others, including me. I address his falsehoods in my book Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department , a book which explains more about what is happening in Ferguson and Washington, D.C. than any report Reilly has filed so far from the field.
I note in my book Injustice:
Around this time, a left-wing blog published a false story claiming I was “fighting to testify.” To the contrary, I was afraid of the legal bind in which the subpoena had put me. The story was the fruit of an unsavory alliance between the DOJ and various left-wing blogs that became the DOJ’s mouthpiece as the Panther scandal unfolded. The “fighting to testify” story appeared on a little-read blog called Main Justice whose writers, Ryan Reilly and Mary Jacoby, obviously kept in close contact with my critics at the DOJ. Department officials would use the website to relay smears against me, Coates, and other supporters of the Panther case.
I asked for a correction to Reilly’s false story, but it never came. As such, I won’t give any interviews to him until he corrects the record.
This history has relevance to the unfolding saga in Ferguson because Reilly will be quoted and relied upon by others. Those who do should proceed with caution. You’ve been warned.”
Sounds like he’s guilty of not having sufficient ammunition.
Not one thing good has come from J6. Nor will it.
so he is being charged with sedition then
no?
these must be the “parading without a license” hunters
Mary Jacoby... the wife of Fusion GPS's Glenn Simpson?
Also writing on the Main Justice Blog with Reilly was Mary Jacoby...
So one is merely a threat to liberals and Democrats if one is within several blocks of a Democrat and one has a weapon? Is that what it’s coming to?

DC Police Arrest Seattle Man Several Blocks from Barack Obama’s House with Explosives in Vehicle – Taylor Taranto Had J6 Warrant Out for His Arrest, Was Kicked Out of Nightly Vigil Outside DC Gulag

DC Law enforcement arrested James Taranto today in Washington DC several blocks from Barack Obama’s home. CBS says he had “materials to make explosives” akin to a Molotov cocktail in his vehicle. Taranto allegedly has a January 6-related warrant out for his arrest.
CBS said he was in Washington DC and attended the nightly vigils for the January 6 political prisoners outside of the DC Gulag.
The Gateway Pundit on Thursday spoke to Micki Witthoeft, mother of Ashli Babbitt, about Taranto.
Micki told The Gateway Pundit that her group kicked out Taranto from their nightly vigils. She said he was acting strange. He believed Ashli was not killed by police.
It’s not clear why Taranto was still walking around free in Washington DC if he was inside the US Capitol and near Ashli Babbitt when she was killed? That seems a bit strange.
In a previous video Taranto described how he was near Ashli Babbitt when she was shot dead.

400 rounds of ammo? He’s a piker.
Smells like Eric Holder...
Very, very interesting which judge got this Taranto case... check out the judge of an SS impersonation case from last year:
U.S. judge declines to jail two men accused of impersonating federal agents

WASHINGTON, April 12 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Tuesday declined to jail two men accused of impersonating federal agents and supplying Secret Service personnel with gifts, dealing a blow to prosecutors who had argued that the defendants pose a danger and should be detained.
“There’s been no showing that national security information has been compromised,” U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Harvey said.
Harvey ordered both men to remain in home confinement, subject to GPS monitoring, with their parents and that they surrender their passports and stay away from airports and embassies. Harvey agreed to stay his order until Wednesday morning while the government mulls whether to appeal.
The judge said prosecutors did not prove that the defendants tried to infiltrate the Secret Service with nefarious purposes, and noted that they were so “spectacularly outed” that there is no risk anymore that they can continue to pose as agents.
