Clay & Buck’ Say Trump’s 2024 VP Pick ‘Seismically’ More Important Than Pence: ‘Anointed Future Leader of the GOP’
The Wrap ^ | June 30, 2023 @ 2:42 PM | Josh Dickey

The “Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” hosts may be a little early to the Donald Trump 2024 Veepstakes party, but when they stumbled upon the topic during a freeform chat Friday, it dawned on the conservative talk radio duo that the choice of Mike Pence in 2016 pales in comparison to what’s ahead for Trump.

“I think Trump’s vice presidential selection is probably the most significant decision he’s going to make, because we know Mike Pence was basically — for Trump, a non-factor,” cohost Travis said. “Right? In terms of, I don’t think he had any impact on how people saw, to a large extent, Trump’s candidacy.”

Sexton, cohost of the conservative talk radio show that’s the heir apparent to Rush Limbaugh, took it a step further, suggesting that Trump’s choice stands to become “the anointed future leader of the GOP.”

The hosts then began to toss around possible candidates, with Travis asking Sexton if there was a person who could actually sway voters to the Republican frontrunner.

“The smartest electoral strategy thing Trump can do to defeat Biden would be to have somebody from — whether it’s in Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan — somebody who could deliver one of those key states as VP. I think that would make sense.”

Both noted that Brian Kemp would be an excellent choice in that vein — if Trump hadn’t picked a fight with the Georgia governor around the 2020 election.

“I think Brian Kemp is a no-brainer VP selection, I just do,” Travis said. “Brian Kemp has a great organization and he is wildly popular. You take Georgia off the board. If you take Brian Kemp, I’m not sure that there’s anybody else out there.”

They also suggested Kari Lake would be an obvious choice — had she actually won the governorship of Arizona, and one fella who actually won his election: “Is it Glenn Youngkin?,” Sexton said. “I don’t know. I mean, Trump’s been attacking him. They don’t have a relationship. It doesn’t seem that’s very strong, and I’m not sure Youngkin could put Virginia in play.”

And that’s where Travis made up his mind about who his pick was — at least as of Friday:

“My top two right now in terms of who I think Trump’s going to pick: Tim Scott and RFK Jr.,” he said. “I still think RFK Jr. is on the horizon for Trump. I still think he would do it.”

25-1 it’s another gay supporter, if not gay themselves. That is NOT what the future party needs, as we are the only hope for America.

Love Bryon but he has some issues...

In 1997, Donalds was arrested for marijuana distribution; the charges were dropped as part of a pre-trial diversion program. In 2000, he pleaded no contest to a felony bribery charge as part of a scheme to defraud a bank. His record was later sealed and expunged

There Won’t Be a Trump-DeSantis Ticket in 2024

No kidding. This time, Trump won't be appealing to the right, like he did last time with the Pence selection. This time, Trump will be appealing to the left, I believe. Mainly because, Trump knows a lot of far right conservatives won't vote for him anyway, and, he thinks the only way to beat the Democrats is to dig into their 80 million vote totals, by appealing to them on social issues.

This is hardly my idea, but I've heard it from some other professional prognosticators who use it to explain Trump's slow but continuous move to the left already. Sure, he's throwing some red meat to the right now to fend off DeSantis, but all will be revealed with his VP pick, should he win the nomination.

Without a doubt, first choice is Mark Robinson... he and PDJT hit it off very well and it would be soooo entertaining.

Why did this duo of dumb and dumber get awarded the spot to replace Limbaugh? I’d rather hear Hannity ramble on about the rank and file FBI then these clowns. All they’re suggesting are RINOs except for Kari Lane but then they suggest her but then with that snide remark, “If she won”

But he was elected to serve for four years. He should stay and serve his term.

I would welcome Kari Lake as VP as Trumps luck for 2024 or even president in 2028. Why do you call her a freak? She was cheated out of that election and you know if.

I liked Rush’s guests hosts that filled in for him more that Buck Sexton and Clay Travis. I’d take Joe Pags, Todd Herman or Mark Stein over those 2 clowns

Clay Travis is a retard. F-ing moron. We are FINISHED, if this is what passes for talk radio and CONservative pundi-grifting. And since it IS what passes, America is dead. We are close to France. And all the III%ers and all the tactical 100 dollar chinese sunglass/hat wearing “patriots” with beards and stickers on their trucks won’t do a damn thing about it.

As someone that has lived in Georgia more than half his life, Kemp is no longer a “semi closeted” Anti-Trumper. Nor is the state’s SOS.

They came out of that closet in early 2020.

And it’s getting even worse given the report that was made public about the voting machines. Machines that the SOS said would take 6-9 months to replace so they’re not going to be replaced. Well, that time frame brings the state to April/May. A solid 6-7 months before the election. Wonder how long it takes to plug in the machines.

On a side note, one county just voted for and set aside money to get rid of the Dominion machines and go paper ballots. Wonder if the state is going to try and block it.

As for RFK Jr.....you’re 100% correct.

https://www.freedomsphoenix.com/News/345998-2023-06-27-rfk-jr-second-amendment-is-settled-not-taking-anyones-guns.htm ..... Dr. Benjamin Braddock quoted RFK Jr. saying, “My position on gun control is that I’m not going to take away anybody’s guns. I’m a constitutional maximalist and the issue has been settled by the Supreme Court.”

https://www.breitbart.com/2nd-amendment/2023/06/29/rfk-jr-says-he-would-sign-assault-weapons-ban-if-it-reached-his-desk/

Eventually, he would follow the crowd. Easy to say the things you want when they don’t really matter. Kind of like DeSantis doing about shooting drug traffickers and waving a wand and eliminating departments.

But, they aren’t going to let him anywhere near the White House, anyway. Kind of feel anxious for him in that regard. No telling what they’ll do. He has support. And if he starts filling arenas and stadiums, like Sanders did, he’s going to be walking on egg shells. Better have some legit security folks.

In my opinion...

Desactimonious wears a for sale sign. He only showed cajones when he began juggling his thoughts about a presidency. He used his governorship to toss a few thoughts about a few political ideas, and he's using Florida again when the laws say no running for office while currently in office. But he's doing it anyway.
