KYIV, Ukraine — For Ukraine’s counteroffensive to progress faster, Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, the top officer in Ukraine’s armed forces, says he needs more — of every weapon. And he is telling anyone who will listen, including his American counterpart Gen. Mark A. Milley as recently as Wednesday, that he needs those resources now.
...So it “pisses me off,” Zaluzhny said, when he hears that Ukraine’s long-awaited counteroffensive in the country’s east and south has started slower than expected...
...“Without being fully supplied, these plans are not feasible at all,” he added. “But they are being carried out. Yes, maybe not as fast as the participants in the show, the observers, would like, but that is their problem.”
Ukraine has not yet launched the main thrust of its counteroffensive, analysts say. Not all of its specially-prepared forces have been committed to the front line, and those that have still seem to be probing for weak spots in Russia’s defenses. Roughly 50 square miles in total have been liberated, Ukrainian officials have said.
But Zaluzhny also pointed to NATO forces’ own doctrine — which parallels Russia’s, he said — that calls for air superiority before launching ground-based deep-reaching operations.
“And Ukraine, moving to offensive operations, should follow which doctrine?” Zaluzhny said. “NATO's? The Russian Federation's? Or is that none of your business? ‘You have your own doctrine. You have tanks, you have some cannons, you have some [fighting vehicles]. You can do it.’ What is that?”

“Ukraine’s top general, Valery Zaluzhny, wants shells, planes and patience”
I guess we can dispose of our air force in Ukraine as we’re doing with tanks and other ground vehicles, but as far as shells go, not only have we disarmed ourselves, we’ve also disarmed South Korea and Japan, and it will be MANY YEARS before we can come close to replacing them, and then only if China is in a good enough mood to sell us the piece-parts and components needed.
Putin’s gift to Macron, a Color Revolution.
Even their own CinC says the plan is not feasible with the current assets.
But it’s going forward anyway.
How dumb is that?

We should be looking for an off-ramp to peace. I don't think that either side can win a clear-cut victory for the foreseeable future.

Ukraine is getting left overs and spares, while US and Europe are increasing munitions production. Russia disarmed itself by invading Ukraine. Russia bringing into service T-55s and 25mm AA guns last produced in the 1980's shows their arms industry is hard pressed to keep up.
“Estimated Russian losses to June 23:”
Didn’t realize that you had access to Russian Defense Ministry data.
Might you give us all a link, please? All we have is Propaganda Crap put out by the Ukrainians and the Neocons.
According to the Russian MOD daily briefings, Russia has destroyed at least twice the equipment Ukraine has so I ignore them except for a laugh.

Hopefully he doesn’t squander the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. I believe there have a lot of lives squander already.

I guess you got a good laugh out of the two dozen or Bradley’s that had a bad day in Ukraine.
If Ukraine was fighting Russia during the peak of the cold war, they would have no chance. Today's Russian military is after 30 years of decay, graft and mismanagement. Ukraine started mobilizing and setting up training outside the country as soon as the war started. Russia's first mobilization was in September. The conscripts Russia mobilized were so poorly trained and equipped many froze and starved to death last winter. Russia's chances to hold its lines are not guaranteed.
Putin and much of the Russian leadership want the USSR back. Russia historically had imperial ambitions just like other major European powers. The difference is, the rest of Europe moved on and Russia hasn't. Blaming NATO expansion or events in Ukraine are just excuses. For there to be peace (absence of war), Russia has to give up its ambitions or they will be back. Between stopping Russia in Ukraine or in the next country they invade, better to stop them in Ukraine.
It is kind of odd how people keep talking about a three week old battle. Russia's strongest response to slowly retreating, Wagner's mutiny, Storm Shadow missiles striking the Chongar Bridge and a major ammo dump, was firing a pair of Iskanders at a pizzeria.
Maybe going slow is Ukraine's best option, and Russia has accomplished little to stop it?
I forgot Ukraine crossing the Dnipro and holding positions. What happened to Russia’s artillery?

They are stopped. Now is time for peace talks.
“I forgot Ukraine crossing the Dnipro and holding positions. What happened to Russia’s artillery?”
It’s easier to disarm the Neocons when their useful idiots are in the open.

You might want look at a map to see just how slow. By the time they actually reach a Russian defense line the sun will have run out of fuel.
His source is the Kyiv Independent........a unbiased news source.hahahahahaMaybe if the army would use 50% of the stuff we send, instead of selling it on the black market, they would have some progress. They were corrupt when Trump was in office, and they still are. we send hundreds of billions to cover up the laundering CONgress and Bidet has been doing for 8 years at least. Thats what the Trump impeachment was about...a cover up of the House, Senate, and deep state pilfering of the US tax payers.
