They need similar accomodation, presuming members of the Islamic cult can accept and participate in our society. What about fake religions like Scientology and Kwanza?

If when you hired them they said that they could not work any certain day for religious reasons and you agreed by hiring them then you need to keep your word.
How is this complicated?
This is very basic contract law.

If that was agreed to by management when that employee was first hired, then yes.
This really isn’t a “religious accommodation” case per se, it’s an “originally agreed upon accommodation that management want’s to rescind on” case.
The fact that it’s religious in nature just adds to the strength of the employees argument.
