Small Business Administration inspector general still has tens of thousands of pandemic relief fraud tips to pursue
Fraudsters and swindlers stole more than $200 billion from just two government programs aimed at providing relief during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a federal watchdog estimate.
A Small Business Administration inspector general released the numbers Tuesday, finding that "fraudulent actors" stole more than $136 billion from the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program and $64 billion from the Paycheck Protection Program, two government initiatives that worked to keep small businesses afloat during the pandemic. Those figures mark a whopping 17 percent of all funds issued under the two programs, with a third of all Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program funds being stolen, according to the report

Per the GAO, the US has spent over 4 trillion, that’s with a t, on so-called COVID relief.
That stolen $200 bil is likely a drop in the bucket compared to the grand total of what has been stolen/misspent.

I loved nearly everything Trump did, but this is an example of where he messed up. In fact nearly everything Trump did in regards to Covid was a screwup starting with “two weeks to flatten the curve”
There was no way not mess it up. This was unchartered territory, which is why it was like Manna from Heaven for the Democrats. No matter what Trump did or didn’t do, the narrative was going to skewer him.
Weren’t the Covid relief programs about 1 trillion a pop?
So the fraud ~ 20%?

I had a neighbor from Jersey living across the street from me who used to be in the scrap metal business. When they started these payouts, he told me that if he was still in business, he would have already opened up 20 claims with fake employees to “earn some dough.” He said it would be so easy. Another place they can look is the receipts from BLM revenue...probably using parts of that $200B to but their mansions.
Just like Katrina relief. If you open up this much spending as quickly as Bush and Trump did (or Obama and Biden for that matter), there will be fraud. There is no way to stop it. or to put it another way, the way to stop it is to NOT to go insane with spending for every “disaster”.
