When he entered Rostov, and then Voronezh, the army groups not only did NOT resist him, but divisions joined him.
He didn’t face any opposition on his march - which shows that he was expecting people turning to join him and that was happening.
Now the question is - would that have been enough? Well, that’s anyone’s guess now
When he entered Rostov, and then Voronezh, the army groups not only did NOT resist him, but divisions joined him.
It was Russian military entering a Russian city.
A division is 10 to 15 thousand troops. Not only did no division join him, but the entire force that went on the road trip, including Oddball giving positive vibes, was only about a 1,000 to 1,500 men. They did not have a big enough force to subdue certain bad neighborhoods in Chiraq or NYC. And just their bad luck, the Chechen forces showed up to give them directions to the hospitality suite waiting for them.
Now the question is - would that have been enough?
Would the force have been enough for what? What do 1,000 to 1,500 or so men do when they get to an urban area of 18M people and 2,000 square miles? Ask for directions? At 120k out, they did an about face and went wee wee wee all the way home.
