Philosophically speaking I agree with you.
However, the world is deeply interconnected. If America doesn’t get all its high-tech electronic components from Taiwan and the EU our American industry will be forced to go into hibernation. The EU is in the same situation - it needs vital parts from Taiwan. Those semiconductors... the rare-earth elements from China...
I hate this situation. But we have totally lost our true independence.
When Trump wins the presidency at least he will start to drill for oil again, making America energy independent- again ! That’s a start at least.
So yeah, it's going to affect us.
