Ellison told the Minneapolis-based retail titan to “stand firm in the face” of violence, intimidation and discrimination against its LGBTQAI+ customers, despite not citing any examples.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has co-authored a letter to the CEO of Target that suggests he would use the powers of his office to ensure that Target is not intimidated into “pulling some Pride merchandise from stores.”
In a June 20 letter Ellison and Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell wrote to Brian Cornell, chairman and CEO the Minneapolis-based retail titan, they expressed concern over Target’s “choice to pull Pride merchandise,” which Ellison and Campbell said “demonstrates that intentional violence and intimidation can set back the march for social progress and LGBTQIA+ equality which as we have noted is already under intense attack nationwide.”
Additional attorneys general who signed onto the letter include those from: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

Didn’t Target pull some of that merchandise because it wasn’t selling?
Maybe there was a limited market for women’s swimsuits which have extra room for a man to wear a woman swimsuit bottom?
Maybe there was a limited market for t-shirts which have the rainbow stripes representing homosexual pride?
It seems odd for the Attorney General of a state to get involved in micromanaging products that retailer is selling.
Target should invite Ellison to lease some shelf space and pay to stock it himself. Charge him a percentage for services rendered by handling his product. Advertise that it is NOT being sold by Target, but by the State, although it may already be too late to redeem Target.
Let them continue to pay for the merch and shelving and services and see how he does. If he’s happy with the profit, good for him. If he isn’t, don’t have the gall to inflict his demands on anyone else.
How is he going to make us shop there to keep it in business?

I haven’t been to a Target store since they got hacked a bunch of years ago while running outdated equipment.
