The Kremlin has forged a deal with Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin to defuse the mercenary group's uprising on Saturday.
In exchange for Prigozhin's exile to Belarus, the mercenary leader won't be prosecuted, the Associated Press reported, citing a Kremlin spokesperson.
The reported agreement comes after a paramilitary rebellion on Saturday in which the Wagner Group marched across Russia before suddenly turning around just 120 miles from Moscow. Prigozhin said he didn't want to shed Russian blood.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced Saturday that Prigozhin — and the troops who follow him — will not face criminal prosecution as part of the deal. He also said those troops who did not join in the uprising would be offered Defense Ministry contracts.

“ Very true, compared to Russia, Wagner is a very small army. But compared to Belarus, which is 15 times smaller than Russia, Wagner more than doubles the size of their military.”

OK, I have to admit I don’t get it. I thought the end result of this would be the Wagnerians ending up going “up north”. But in my mind “up north” meant in the vicinity of Belgorod and Kursk and NOT Belarus. I can see Prigozhin relocating himself and his headquarters in Belarus but what about the Wagner forces themselves. Will they remain a distinct and separate fighting organization but now under direct contract to the Russian Ministry of Defense?
I agree completely.
He’s an old man. Why can’t he just retire, move to his dacha, and collect his government pension ?
Exactly, I can’t see Belarus being a “safe” place for Prigozhin. Unless all of this was a means to get him and his men off the field. He’s been a trouble maker from the get go.
Yeah, brew your own tea, Yevgeny.⚰️
Your soda bottle GIF was used perfectly! :)

I’m mostly tweaking the Neocon Operatives. From what I read, the vast majority of the Wagners, meaning the ones not actively helping Prigozhin, will be given amnesty in Russia and I think be offered positions in the military. The ones who did help him can move to Belarus, but it’s a relatively small number.
“Cookies” Nuland. LoL!

And a Kremlin assassin will quietly dispose of him there.
“It was all a ruse to get Z-man to move his troops in for final annihilation, but he didn’t take the bait.”
I had that thought more than once.
You believe anything “brought to you by Pfizer” tells you to believe, don’t you?
Good luck with that.
Rolling the dice and losing big.
Possible set up. Now, Putin looks like he is protecting Russia from crazies.
I doubt if any of them are going to have much faith in Putin's promise not to prosecute.
They may make sure that Prigozhin doesn't make it to Belarus.
Lots of crazy things can happen with the CIA (and others) when there is a 6 BILLION dollar accounting error......
I think so too. The Russians must be a very brilliant people if they can pronounce their own names.
Hmm. I was thinking it was all about “regime change” in Belarus, except certainly not of the Nuland kind. More like this has all been a scam for Prigozhin to move his merc force into Belarus, replace Lukashenko, and invade Ukraine from the north.
Maybe he will fall out a window in a tall building?
