'We are turning back': Wagner chief sensationally agrees to END his mercenary group's march on Moscow following emergency negotiations - after Russian military desperately rushed to build defences around the capital
Daily Mail ^ | 6/24/2023 | Christian Oliver

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin has confirmed he has ordered his mercenaries to halt their march on Moscow and retreat to their field camps in Ukraine to avoid shedding Russian blood.

'We are turning back our columns and leave in the opposite direction to the field camps according to the plan,' an audio message on his Telegram feed said after a meeting between Prigozhin and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

An uneasy calm has now prevailed on the streets of Moscow in a city that had been preparing for war. The capital had braced for the arrival of forces from the Wagner Group, a private army led by Prigozhin that has been fighting alongside regular Russian troops in Ukraine, by erecting checkpoints with armored vehicles and troops on the city's southern edge. Red Square was shut down, and the mayor urged motorists to stay off some roads.

But Prigozhin announced that while his men were just 200 kilometers (120 miles) from Moscow, he decided to turn them back to avoid 'shedding Russian blood.'

He did not say whether the Kremlin has responded to his demand to oust Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. There was no immediate comment from the Kremlin.

The shock announcement follows a statement from the office of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko saying that he had negotiated a deal with Prigozhin after previously discussing the issue with Putin.

Prigozhin has accepted Lukashenko's offer to halt the Wagner group's advance and further steps to de-escalate the tensions, Lukashenko's office said, adding that the proposed settlement contains security guarantees for Wagner troops. It did not elaborate.

I don’t see it that way. When it comes to completely foreign invaders, Russia becomes awesome at resistance. But internal power struggles? Russians just shrug and say, “Who do I call the president, again?”

Kremlin spox Dmitry Peskov:
– charges dropped against Prigozhin, who will leave Russia for Belarus
– Wagner fighters who didn’t take part in the uprising will sign contracts with the MOD
– Wagner fighters who did take part not charged
– No word on potential MOD leadership changes

I like the way you are thinking, but allow me to borrow your tin foil hat for a moment...

Remember those NATO exercises that was going on up north? What the P-mam and Vaghner needed was air cover. Perhaps the goal was to peel off some of that NATO force up north, but when the word was given, both planes and ships realized they all had laser targets painted on them, and realized their cover was blown.

Or someone just didn’t feel WW3-ish today.

just my $0.02

Interesting conjecture. It’s plausible.

Looks like Wagner is no more as part of the deal.

You may be right but Prig will have plenty of money to move around and have layers of personal security. It will take them a long time to get to him.

"The working theory is that Wagner was told that the masses (a little Communist lingo for you Neocon Supporters) would rise up and OVERTHROW Putin."

Wouldn't surprise me if the CIA had a hand it it. Sounds a bit like the CIA's failed plan of the Bay of Pigs invasion. They need a new play book.

LOL. "not charged" = Buh-bye, battlefield.

Now Putlim will be down to the Chechen, who have the capacity to assassinate him out of the blue. Not only that, but Kadyrov would easily flip for double his US$500M yearly from the Kremlim; his daddy sure as hell did, so why not?

Oh, poor Putlims, chew your foot off from your Bear trap, but hey post the video first ok?

Agree. “When you strike at a king, you must kill him.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

"Russians just shrug and say, “Who do I call the president, again?”

We have our own "who do I call the President" going on right here in this country. Biden isn't running the show.

Gotta admit that the neocons are so drunk on their own press that they make a huge fat target for a whaling scam, well, more like an ex-vice President of Nigeria scam - Prigoshine here already marching on Moscow and will complete the coupe for a small deposit of $6.2 Billion and a list of potential co-conspirators I can rely on for assistance.

I saw some posts this morning with Ukie FReepers gloating in the middle of the night about how none of the “Russian trolls” (their phrase for Americans who are against spending billions of unaccountable, unaudited taxpayer money on their grifter god) were posting.

These posts were made around 2:00, 3:00 a.m. CDT. Do these Ukrainians not understand time zones? 🤣 Most Americans are asleep then.

Here’s just one example: (FR Revolution” “like vaporized” 😂😂)

“ To: MinorityRepublican
“The internet is cut off in Russia.”

>>>>>>

That might very well be accurate.
It is very telling, what is going on here on FR is indeed a kind of revolution tonight. The Russian trolls are like vaporized. What a breeze of fresh pro-American air!

I think you mean Machievelli. If Emerson said it, he’s copying from Machievelli.

So, when you were taking a break from FreeRepublic for 12 1/2 freaking years, did you keep up your monthlies?

Or maybe you were permabanned, wow, let's see, Dubya's second term through Bobo?

Or maybe a stroke that put you in a 12-year coma? One that you never fully recovered from?

Russia has a long history of successful coups. And purges - Parque generals were in the crosshairs during the past few days, especially as communicated for all to see in open discussions with bloggers a few days ago ... Progozin's insanity upon entry to this attempted coup d'etat, with western fingerprints all over it, and maskirovka upon exit. Power to purge the non-loyal, non-westerners increases exponentially.
