If I recall correctly, they had been moved into Russia proper to defend against cross-border incursions from Ukrainian backed Russian (revolutionaries?)

Supposedly they had withdrawn fron the line and were refitting in camps in Dontesk. They were in reserve awaiting reassignment.

Wagner was resting and refitting after Bakhmut. They weren’t in the active fight.

The question for the Ukrainian front is will the regular Russian forces keep up strong resistance when the Wagner business is going on.

My guess is the West is involved. Wagner are mercenaries, which suggests they can be bought.

If Putin is overthrown, this will be a huge victory for both Biden and the neocons crowd. All the other stuff will go away, and Biden will be a shoe-in for 2024.
