Okay, nice snapshot for now, Trump currently leads but the primaries are not for 8 months—that’s a lifetime away. Also, what else was in the poll? How do each Trump and DeSantis stack up against Biden?
10 candidates. Too many on the debate stage and Trump’s absence will be a big loser for Fox. So how do you wiittle them down to 5 or 6? Eliminate fat boy for starters. Let’s be honest. Fox needs Trump more than Trump needs FOX. Being head and shoulders above the rest gives him more than a little say in the matter. Olly those with a national profile would little it down to Pence,DeSantis, and Trump. Would Fox grab the bull by the horns and do the right thing? Trump doesn’t owe the one percent supporters anything.

There have been a number of comments here on Free Republic, by people saying that while they like Trump, they are supporting DeSantis because he would have a better chance of winning the general election.

Yep, and most polls show even match with both Trump and DeSantis beating Biden. It’s a marathon to the first primaries and the election, so lots of time for things to resolve themselves. DeSantis is just getting himself introduced, Trump is dealing with his baggage and behavior. Should be interesting.
